I`m just about to rebuild and service my Kalahari 1100 which I crashed last year.

The tank has come back from Motobuild in better condition than a new one !

I`m going to fit a fresh fuel filter while the pump assembly is out,and wondered if anyone is using any alternative clamps to the BMW ones on the pump/filter hoses ??

If so,which ones are recommended ??

Cheers :beerjug:

Halfords

I got two fuel line clamps from Halfords a while back, I think they cost £1.50 each and they work very well. I don't know if you have 'access' issues with this job, if not, give the Halfords one's a go.

And while we've got the fuel clamp experts on the thread - does anyone use Quick Disconnects other than the hideously overpriced BMW ones? Mine's the R1150GS if that makes a difference..

I just ordered my fuel filter from Motoworks and was recomended to change to Jubilee clips.

I always thought that you shouldn't use Jubilee clips on fuel lines?? I'm sure one of my bikes failed an MOT on that a few years back. Proper petrol-pipe clips are wot I use on the BM filter.

I think it can fail an MOT due to poorly fitting clips, there are some really neat little clips available its finding them thats the problem, i bought a load from Delorto's in Reading, a few years back now, so not even sure if they are there now.

Good Luck Shep

Yes Jubilee type clips are not always a good fit, as they are never circular even when tightened up. But like Shep says there is a similar clip that screws up that is more suitable. I think in the past i've reused the old clips and just tweaked the clamp bits up with some plumbers pliers

Cheers guys.....I did the job last night.

On the internal lines I used some screw type clamps which are similar to Jubilees but are actually sold as fuel line clamps.

I reused the two crimp type clamps on the breather and filler neck drain lines.

I used Motrax, which were cheaper although not that cheap about £30.00 I think from memory.

Ya gotta watch the screw parts of replacement clips don't foul the float arm.
DAMHIK
The existing ones can be re-used. The hoses c/w clamps will pull off with patience and push on with more of same.
