Hi folks,

Has anybody wshed their bike gloves in a washing machine? My Kushitani`s are a few years old & my hands stink a bit after I`ve worn them, I`ve given them a clean in the sink with baby shampoo but they`re not much better. Any tips?

i left my gloves in my jacket when i washed that didn't do them any harm, cool wash and let them dry naturally, whilst drying keep putting them on just in case they loose their shape

Put them in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer. That'll kill the nasty, manky, rotten bacteria that inhabit your body and that you leave behind in your gloves.

Strangely enough, I'm just having precisely this conversation with my son who's just come in from doing his Direct Access training. He's got honking gloves. Mine, on the other hand....both actually....never smell..... :)

Will that work with helmets? I just washed mine in the sink--amazing amount of dirt came out, but it still honks a bit. And should I let it dry a bit before sticking it in the freezer?

If you've got a lid with removable paddingthen yes, I'd think you could bung that in the freezer. I'm not sure that I'd want to put the whole helmet in the freezer, even if you've got room for it..... :nenau

Ive looked, and ive not got a 'paddingthen' in my helmet. Or has it been removed and not replaced.

gloves & iners go in the machine with loads of leather food after.

In your case, it's inside yer heid......

Never heard of the freezer bag method before :nenau but if that doesn`t work I can still chuck them in the washing machine :D

I wash my waterproof gloves in the washing machine: same time that I wash my jacket. Then, the gloves are Alpinestars cordura/fake leather/neoprene/goretex jobs. The jacket is cordura too. I use that Nikwax stuff.

THERES NO NEED TO GET IN THE WASHING MACHINE YOU SILLY BUGGER!!!

"pedamed"
get it in the chemists.
its a powder for athletes foot -sprinkle it in yer gloves- works wonders - kills all the nasty smells.
