hi swmbo has booked us on the ferry back from gothenburg leaving it up to me to get there. I fancy harwich/hook followed by a blast to berlin then a tootle up the baltic getting the ferry from tallinn to stockholm. Has anyone any suggested itinery/ideas please as this is a massive adventure for me having never turned right at europe before. We have two weeks of work. I really fancy going through that bit of russia next to poland if its feasible. thanks guys.

as a polish person i recommend Poland of course. With russia you will have some problems if you don't start right away geting a transit visa. it cost about $70 and even if you apply soon enough it doesn't mean you get it on time. We don't like one another so for us this is even more struggle then perhaps for you. It is worth to try if you want to see Sankt Petersburgh or Kaliningrad. never been there but my mates say it is great. we decided to avoid it.
me and my friend are also leaving on the beginning of July. Rosyth to zeebrugge then via Hamburg and north poland to Latvia (avoiding Russia;), then estonia and just like you ferry across to Helsinki. then up to nordkapp and down to Stavange.

Yep! Three times last year, love the place. Did a bit of the country down South and the seaside resort of Parnu would be nice at the right time of year. Tallinn central square and surrounding streets are beautiful. And the people are very friendly in my experience.

Seconded. A very pleasant destination. Highly recommended. Especially, Tallinn.

Stayed in Tallin and Tartu. Recommend Tallin. Tartu appeared to be what you imagine East Europe to be.........Just about to drop off to sleep when there was an exchange of gun fire - between 15 and 30 shots with at least three guns being involved, then followed by a woman howling. Fortunately for me, Louise was already asleep wearing ear plugs due to my occassional snores! Didn't tell her until midday the following day. Nice food though.
