However, to the OP ... I've bashed'n crashed many times in leather and textile, doesn't really matter which as long as it's good quality leather or textile!
One thing is important though .... you need to be lucky
I think getting a Harley cruiser isthe answer to summer heat.
Going by what their riders wear, or more realistically don't wear, they are magic bikes that never crash.
We had one of our lad's go down at Kyffhauser in Germany, just lowsided and had KTM textile clothing on, he was unscathed but the textiles where toast, seams burst on the arm and shoulder which I was surprised with. My one piece crowtree's would survive a nuclear explosion (in fact they did one night after an xxxl Currywurst took it's revenge on me near Goslar one morning.....but that's another story), I've had a couple of track day off's and a couple of lowish speed off's and they are still looking 100% serviceable.
I've got a used Atlantis 4 suit, bought from here, as I like the leather thing, but it's bloody hot when the weather picks up, so I'm likely to do my Italy tour this year in the Crowtree's as they are vented and just stick a waterproof over when it rains.
I forgot
The temperature thing
I once fell off in stationary traffic be case the engine heat wafted up my new jacket that was much warmer than I had realised. I just remember thinking "crikey. ..warm jacket. Erm crumbs. Bit hot." Then finding myself sitting propped by a wall as some blokes picked my bike up.
Couldn't agree more. Sadly, I'm not perfect and although this is my first off in 35 years I do plan to learn from it. Maybe some advanced training? and certainly some better quality gear- just in case!
I'm not a moto GP rider, I just have fat calves and leather flares are an even bigger fashion disaster than tucking trousers into boots. And, BTW, tucking them in means they are less likely to ride up my legs when sliding down the road. If it rains I wear overtrousers.
