There hasn't been much take up on this at all I'm afraid. Been an examiner for over fifteen years and never known of one

I understand that IAM London are looking at something similar in place of it ... as an examiner it wants something for sure ... but they won't do the Gold, Silver or Bronze way of things because RoSPA do it that way

looks like I might be a pioneer then.
Big weakness of the IAM qualification is, in my opinion, the lack of a need (or in many cases as desire) to re-take/re-assess standards.
I'll post up as and when I ive it a shot.

True, but some of the numbers don't stack up e.g. RoSPA don't have the examiner numbers (or IAM for that matter) to retest the complete membership that IAM does. But then there aren't as many members because of the retest. So is it better to have more folks on the road with some experience of advanced, or less with higher quality.I totally agree. I know one person who has, and he is Rospa Gold too.
Last time I asked the scottish staff examiner for iam bike there were very few doing it - like Micky says.

Not name dropping, but I was talking to Ian Best, the CEO, earlier this year, and he was in favour of continuous assessment. Mind you, he was also in favour of having more members under 25 than over 90! Both are, I think, a long way off. There's just too much invested by the 'old school'.
Is the assessment done by the regular examiners Micky? I also wonder what is meant by 'the highest standards'. In my business, I'm only allowed to assess against written and ratified standards so I'm a little wary of such broad statements IYKWIM.

Ive just passed my green badge today,the examiner asks did i find the lanes challenging? i said no,they were fun.woohoo.....he kinda told me to slooooow down a bit,doh

I Germany at the mo ... but yup, special assessment done by the regular examiners. I haven't had one to do in all the time it's been running.
Yes, it'll be to a higher standard but with a marking system
Oh ... wouldn't it just be simpler with a Bronze,Silver or Gold certificare

Why don't you just do the RoSPA graded test with s written report on your riding & things to work on for improvement. There is a local group covering Suffolk, S norfolk, N essex etc & the cost is £69 from memory including the test fee. The re-test is free (if you remain a member) if taken three years later.

I passed my IAM back in May and i think the special assesment was there for people to try and maintain standards other than going on to be an observer.
It seems to be an on going thing of pass the test and thats it ? and no one does any thing else ? (i have seen people once in over a year of riding with CAM)
Instead of gold etc why not rate A,B, C etc or is that to hard ?
Mr Best wants newer members because the average age for IAM is 59

what is a pass
I know the IAM is a pass fail but what is a IAM pass against a ROSPA bronze silver or gold ?
Hope that makes sense.

Depends on your area, it's down to the examiner
Some IAM test passes will be equivalent to a bronze, and some to a gold

Well thats okay then can't go wrong with doing the ROSPA version.
