I wont buy any motor vehicle without test riding/driving it first..

I shall be ordering one, ive Beta tested the LC so may as well go for the GSA LC too.

To be fair the GS is a cracking bike, its got a couple of issues but the Adventure version will no doubt be a winner

Yep, I put a (refundable) deposit down a few weeks ago.

Me too Yonkyo, Deposits are refundable if you add the caveat of a test ride!

I've Tested the "Normal" GS LC and like it a lot. I have a 1200 ADV at the moment. Cant wait. I'm guessing 17k with panniers and all the options?
 
Good stuff, you won't be disappointed I reckon. For me the GS is the one to go for, I test rode the GS/GSA back in 2007 and I much preferred the standard GS bike. I fancied a change in 2011 and test rode the TC GS, GSA and RT. I bought the RT. So when the new GS LC came out I test rode that (mate's bike this time) and liked it so much that I traded my RT.

One of my favourite (near) local roads runs between Braemar and Blairgowrie. This stretch of road is very testing, great twisty sections before you hit the ski centre at Glenshee, then its a big diving roller coaster all the way down to bridge of cally. I rode this a few times on my RT but it was just not the same, back to a GS for me and on the GS LC last weekend it was an absolute hoot! Dyna mode on the way up and Rain on the way down (chucked of yer seat on Dyna on the down route). Whether you are on a GS or a GSA you know you'll be on the right bike, ride this road at least once in your life (north or south). :thumb
 
17k seems a good guess for a loaded bike, with panniers and top box.

Also seems a lot when compared to the deals on the current GSA.

I've seen the deals on the outgoing GSA but I've already got one of those ! we are only talking 2k difference and residuals will be better on the new model, so not a lot in it.
I'm planning on ticking all the boxes including buying a new Nav and depending on the deal, an Akrapovic end can.
Already agreed the sale of my (Dare I say it) ex Charley Boorman GSA. Ive sold my Yamaha 350 LC too.
I may need to flog my 916 SPS too but I'm trying not to!

Cant wait to see some real pics of it!
 
As it appears that current sales of the out going GSA are helping to prop up GS sales not sure how quickly BMW will actually put the new GSA on sale.

Before some jump down my throat, in the stealers just yesterday and there where definitely more GSA's sold and waiting for their new owners than WC's. In fact don't remember seeing a single WC with a sold sign on it.
 
I offered my dealer a deal and that was if they fix the shite gearbox on my LC I would seriously consider buying a new GSA LC.

If not then no way.
 
Nope - not for me.
The adventures ( for me ) are too tall and too heavy.
I have a limited ( but not small) inside leg, and a normal LC is a little bit too tall as it is.

The adv wod be 1" taller ( approx).

Love the look of the advs, and put a refundable deposit down on the original 1150 adv after seeing it at the NEC.

But it's simply way too tall for me.
 
I'm definitely very interested and will probably get one but definitely not without riding it first.

Its also dependent on price as £15k will be my absolute max to include luggage, I'll be happy to go for the basic bike as don't really think all the electronic aids are needed although ESA is handy to have. I'm really hoping for a white colour option as well as it looks good on the GSA I reckon

The release of the new one coincides with my 5 year bike change rule as well :D
 
I wouldn't bother putting a deposit down in advance. It seems that those who did so for the WC waited the longest.

The dealers see those as a 'sure thing' so once the deposit is banked they give the stock to the new prospects and make the deposit payers wait until demand has weakened.

I was first to put a deposit on an LC at my local dealer, and I was first to take delivery of the bike (on launch day). I've put a deposit down on the GSA, and similarly expect to get one on launch day early next year.

Interesting, I thought I'd be an Adventure owner when the new one came out. Idea was to ride the GS WC for awhile and if the Adventure bike rocked my socks update to it. I have ridden quite a few miles on the "old" , current GSA , and really like the bike except for the lack of performance and ground clearance. I hired one to go two up around the south island of NZ and was surprised when we kept scraping the stand on left hand corners. We were two up with luggage , but boy the bike was a great handler with excellent wind protection.

So after looking at the leaked photos I can't see me rushing out, also I'm more than happy with what I have at present. Need to see the new GSA in the flesh but don't think it'll be on my list straight away.

Regarding the ground clearance issue, was the bike fitted with ESA?
Mine's not, I'm a big lad and can tour two up with no issues my boots touch down and that's about it. Front pre-load on highest setting, rear around midway.
 
ill be waiting to see how water and air mix in the real world ! They look great and the reviews are stunning......ill keep loving my 11 plate GSA for some time yet.

It did not have ESA , but I did wind the preload to max and adjusted Damping. I'm not complaining about the handling it was good enough to get over far enough to scrape, which as I said was a surprise. I think the ten days spent on the GSA was what prompted me to go for the GS, although I have considered one many times before.

Weight wise I'd say we were close to 165 Kgs as rider and pillion, I'm 98 kgs and 6 ft so I'm not sure if that resides in the bigger than you camp or not. We did have a good 25kgs of luggage and 20kg of riding gear so getting up towards max load.
