Anyone else ordered an LC Adventure?

I test rode the new GS. A couple of weeks ago and didn't want to give it back! If I like the look of the Adventure when it arrives I will order one, if not I will order a GS (TE) with my spec choices...

My current bike is a BMW S1000RR, which now tends to sit looking pretty in my garage for most of the time. It's because I've been riding sports bikes now since the late 70's and have never owned any other type of bike - I've raced them, toured on them, commuted on them and enjoyed every single minute. Apart from the odd track day and very occasional proper trip out on decent roads (usually not the UK), it's rarely gets used despite how amazing it is. It doesn't even cause me aches and pains! I'm just now ready for a complete change and seeing how much the GS has been refined over the years, they just seem so usable for almost any scenario.

Ok, I'm getting older, but giving up the sports bike is going to be a huge wrench!!! I'd happily have both in the garage, but what's the point if one of them ends up sitting there never getting used?

I'm not a GS owner yet, but will be very soon... Not only did I really enjoy the recent test ride I had, but I really like the look of GS's - to me, they look like a piece of military equipment, definitely no toy!!!

Can't wait to see the GSA...

My repsol blade had to go for the GS - it's natural progression mate, no worries :beer:

I could have written that myself other than my bike is a Fireblade. I bought the GS in April and I haven't ridden the Honda since. As you say it sits looking pretty in the garage but I just couldn't bring myself to sell it this year. Maybe next spring. It will break my heart - probably as it will be the final admission of parting with my youth as much as parting with the bike!

^ This.

Same here really. I look at the 40/50 somethings climbing off R1CBRGSXR etc stretching and think rather you than me.

Thanks for moral support guys. It is inevitable that I finally stop riding an out and out sports bike and its good to hear some of you have done the same, for the exact same reasons. I've owned most of the top bikes, of different makes, over the last 35 years and I still drool over them and get the urge to want to own them, but I'm just now ready for a complete change. I want to enjoy motorcycling from a different angle (well it'll be higher up for a start!) and make it a bit more sociable too. There are lot of different bikes out there and I'd be a fool to myself to not look at the options (which I have), but it's the GS that seems to draw me more than anything else. There's nothing else like it! For a start, it looks superb in its own robust, chunky kind of way - in the right colour with the right kit on it, it looks like a piece of military equipment! I don't mean to sound sexist, but it's a proper man's bike, if you know what I mean?! As I said before, parting with the S thou is going to be very, very hard, but I'm actually quite excited about the thought of owning a GS(A), probably because it'll be like starting out on a whole new motorcycling episode. There's no way I would have got my other half on the back of the S thou, but she's already said that she'd probably be happy on the back of a GS, whenever I've shown her pictures of them.

The future is beak!

So when's this Adventure version coming out then???

If its a consolation, I just did the same. I loved my S1000 but on UK roads and speeds, it just didn't make any sense. Then an epiphany riding over dinton hill toward Goodwood when I thought I was doing around 65, looked down at the speedo and it was closer to double that. That's it, I thought, it's all gonna end badly!,

So back on a 1200ggsa and guess what.......spend a lot more time riding, and osteopath bills much lower :D mind you still got to sort out that that seat!,

Go for it mate, you won't regret it.

I think we will see the GSA W/C in march. Anybody else heard this.?

I would like to see a photo of her because what spy shots have been out there it does no look a lot different to the stock TE.?

:aidan

There's a Motorrad stand at the Ace Cafe run to Brighton today, not a dealer stand but a BMW GB stand with BMW GB people staffing it. According to them the GSA will be officially launched in the UK at season launch 2014 ie late Feb early March.

This was also the case for the LC this year, and BMW GB were fierce about not letting any bikes be registered before the launch (or at least, the day before the launch). However I think the GSA will be a softer launch altogether so I'd say there's a fair chance we might see them in showrooms earlier in the new year.

Cheers
Jimmy

So he's tried the gearbox on my bike

Hey, come on... don't burst my bubble! I'm hoping that there will be some degree of ongoing development tweaks to sort out the odd glitch and hopefully, by the time the GSA is released it will be properly sorted. Anyway, wishful thinking won't do any harm.

new 1200gs

:hide.I bought one and it arrived mid july and it left mid august. After a number of GS'S FROM R100 to 1200 twin cams i was very dissapointed in the rattley engine and dreadful gear change of the new gs.It was a great bike on the open road but i just couldn't live with it in traffic. There was a tendency for it to stall and it made cringe worthy noises when selecting first gear so i have gone to a new GSA .LOVELY! I await youre comments . ( i put 1800 miles on it while i had it just to make sure i didn't like it)

I test rode a new S1000RR last Saturday, and 8 days later I'm still lusting after it. I love my LC, and have no intention of selling it, but I long for a new HP 4 in Motorsport colours in my garage.

.... in the rattley engine

...use earplugs...then you only hear the crackling, popping exhaust
...no gear issues for me other than the odd 1-2-N when being lazy in my changes
....errhmm :hide user error
....so do most bikes

Stall, you need to take a refresher course how to ride a bike

r1200gs wc

among all the other complaints i have about the new gs did i mention the noise coming from the front wheel.after 35 years riding all sorts of bmw's i think bmw are letting customers finish the development of the gswc.Maybe i just got a bad one,in that case i want my money back!

I've been watching this, as well as a few other threads regarding GS problems (the new WC) and have to admit that some of them are concerning. I'm sure that there will be the case of the odd one being built badly but hopefully by the time the GSA is released certain things will have been rectified and ironed out because I'm planning to buy the new GSA when it comes out, providing that I like it etc... if not, it's going to be the GS TE with certain options.

Is it worth holding my breath?
