Anyone ever fit a front 1150GSA shock to an 1100GS?

Playing with the idea. It will make the front around 20mm taller and i might perhaps get a taller shock made up for the rear.

Will a taller shock have any detrimental effect to the shaft drive? I presume I'd have to get a 20mm taller shock for the rear even thought the GSA one is only around 10mm taller (extra length of the swing arm makes up the other 10mm so I've heard)

Standard 1150 GS and ADV Swing arms are the same length.

Ok good to know. I thought the shaft was longer on the adventure. So it is a case of the adv rear shock being 20mm longer.

Cheers for the info.

So, can I fit the taller shock to the 1100GS or would it require the front forks from an early 1150GSA?

I was of the belief that the 1150/1150adv paralever ( the sculpted curvy one) was a tad shorter than the 'girder like' 1100 one.

The Adv drive shaft differs from the GS Lite, but the swing arm is common to both...

Different part numbers but it's the same length . :D

I've used the normal shaft in an ADV many times without any problem whatsoever.

I must be wrong then:blast, I thought the ADV had a master spline whilst earlier ones didn't?

That's my experience - when I had to fit a new one on my Adv I had the opportunity to use a standard driveshaft and the splines were different...

You can mix and match - you can use the newer indexed short section with an earlier shaft, but not the newer long section with earlier short shaft .

I 'think' he's saying the older short section doesn't have a master spline but did that change come with the ADV?
