you get the same affect using any car wax. had a go with some of the stick thing it dose work but you have to leave a thin film on the visor.

Fog tech

I was collared by a slick guy doing the demo at the NEC. I must admit I was quite impressed with the demo, having recently bought a product called Fog Tech I didn't buy the crayons at the NEC.
I did wonder if I had missed a bargain, then I thought if this shit was that good it would be sold everywhere, not just at bike shows.
All that glitters etc.

I would however reccommend Fog Tech which seems to do a reasonable job of keeping the visor mist free with aprox 1 x treatment every 5 x days or so. It's no miracle cure, if the bike is stationery on a cold wet day with the visor closed it will get damp, if you are on the move with a vent open it stays nice and clear.

fog tech

Well, when I put nothing on the visor it fogs up pretty quickly, other than when the visor is fairly wide open. Fog tech just like pinlock holds the misting effect off for longer.

I had a run out this weekend, temperatures as low as .05 with the front vent on the helmet open, no fog, my pals pinlock held off the fog as well other than round the edges where the pinlock has no coverage.

In essence, the Fog tech is a treatment that you apply to your visor which wards off the effects of misting, in my experience it works.

Never seen the need to go beyond the old Fairey Liquid recipe myself - it works brilliantly and if you are going on a trip, a 35mm film tub (remember those?:rob)
with some in means you will have plenty for the entire time you are away. You can even stop at a motorway services and clean your visor, recoat it with fairey Liquid and be on your way again.

The trick is to not wash it off totally.

Divers manage to make spit keep their masks from fogging up...but I don't fancy spitting at my visor any more than I do when I shout at myopics on the road.

The potato trick works if your windscreen wiper breaks on the car too - rub it on the outside and rain beads off. better than trying to peer through a load of rain on the screen.

Chewing gum is petrol proof too - stops fuel leaks!

I was told to use Mr Sheen (or any beeswax furniture polish) when cleaning my lid.
Worked ok for me, it does help bead water on the visor.

I have also used Nikwax Visor Proof as well. Its good, but if you wipe your visor you remove the layer off the visor, and its water based, so it will wash off anyway.

I have found that if it is raining and you have a product on your visor, generally speaking, they all work, but as soon as you get mist spray off a lorry, you are cream krackered as it just sits on the visor forcing you to wipe it with something.

I tried it too..... crap...... have tried everything and bob heath seems to do the trick for me

oh come on!
Mrs Og would be mightily miffed if i tried carrying HIM around on the Bike just to wipe me visor as well as her. :augie

spuds - :thumb2
Fairy Liquid - :thumb2
Mr Sheene - :thumb2
and even that crayon stick - :thumb2

all work Short Term. for me anyhow.
mind you - i got a crayon stick at home in the shed for the last... 5 years?
not worth the time it takes to apply. but it did do a good job on reviving me old scratched Guzzi Screen

If it's too good to be true it usually is...................................

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned:

Fog City inserts to stop the inside misting - have used them since they came out and swear by them. Very slight loss of clarity at night but nothing that bothers me (although some don't seem to like them because of that :nenau)

And RainX on the outside which, again, works a treat (as long as you treat the visor everytime you clean it).

Is there a RainX for plastics, as the ones I've seen specifically say glass only :(

Could always use pledge or something like it :comfort

No, not that I know of. I use the normal 'car windscreen' stuff.

I've heard various opinions (urban myths?) over the years that it degrades the anti-scratch coating on the visor or that it will make the plastic go brittle but as I said, I've been using it for years now and never had a shattered visor in any 'off' or overly scratched visor - works for me (mind you, so does pledge :thumb2).

Oh, and anybody who IS worried about it making the plastic go brittle, guess what we use at work to bring out stress cracking in plastics (testing) - yup, good ol' Fairy liquid.
Used to use that on all my visors too, before I discovered Fog City's :D

It's a dangerous, litigious world out there folks :thumb

PINK STICK IS DISHONEST CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i bought one at show and found it to be completely ineffective
HOWEVER i have found that the fogcity hyperoptic insert is very good and if you also put in a foggy respro mask into helmet it is as close to 100% as i have ever found had my first fog free run on the weekend ever (after 10 years of trying most of the crap on the market) oiked most of the way up scotland in the ice n stuff so it was a good try oot!:bounce1:bounce1

RainX original didn't work on plastics, the original formula had very dilute HF to mildly etch the glass for the polymer to adhere to. Not too sure about the "new" formula though....

so does fairy liquid

Works great on my bathroom mirror....:thumb

so i have used that inside visor and works there to a point, now the proud owner of a shoei with anti fog on pegs but even that wouldnt work in minus 3 the other morning
