Anyone fancy a Ducati restoration?

The 750SS is already at £34,000 with 6 days to go! The 750 Sport is only at £9500 yet. :)

That ratio seems about right, reflecting current valuations of bikes in decent nick. I think I'd get more pleasure from the Sport - couldn't bring myself to ride a £100k bike on the road

If the price stayed below 10k then I would seal it in a large plexi case, ala Damien Hirst style!
The bottomless pit of resporation could only be justified in a roundabout way such as preserving the engine/frame numbers, or a photo "proving" that a famous bottom had once been perched on it.

An example of cost of replacement parts.
Here is a 750 GT mudguard for £1100.

An original 750 Sport mudguard is three to four times the price, IF, you can find one.

The guy who sold me my 750 Sport has one of the early Zstripes, all original and all ready to be fully restored.

Or you could buy this one from the Bike Specialist guys

That is an incredible amount of money to chuck at a project. There must be a super wealthy community willing to buy, restore and then presumably sell on these bikes. Definitely not Joe average!

Certain Ducati Bevels are the new Brough Superiors and Vincents so really are above the market downturn, but I am sure you are well aware of that with your beautiful Sport
Thanks Mike.
I sold a pristine 996R in favour of the Sport as my thinking was the same as yours.

But who knows where values will go, luckily I really enjoy the bike, just taking the covers off makes me smile.

Happy New Year
