Bought myself a running XT600 34L a few months ago with the intention of stripping it down to its nuts and bolts to rebuild it. Realistically I'll never get a chance to do what I want with it as we're due another baby in a couple of months. My romantic plan was to rebuild it and use for a long distance overland trip.
The guy I bought it off had been using it to commute even though it was on English plates (which it still is - I have V5) so I assume he never taxed it either. The bad that I can remember off the top of my head:

- Front light is disconnected, no idea why
- A previous owner lost the keys so the ignition is shorted out (bought a replacement one off eBay)
- Plenty of fresh air in the front brake. Needs to be bled and refilled I reckon
- I stripped the paint off the headstock to do a HPI (which was clear)
- Take a few kicks to get her going
- No side or centre stand
- The engine in it is not the original one I don't think
- Tyres look very new
- Renthal bars
- it's a lovely bike
