I've done various thread searches and can find loads on front fogs but nothing so far on rear.

I've looked at Nippy Normans and the Hella website.

I'm not after high intensity rear running lights but a switchable rear fog-light.

I've seen some in the likes of Halfords but was wondering if anyone here had found something suitable?

I fitted a pair of Halfords cheapo fog lights. No problem. Only potential hassle I can figure is the drain on the electrical system - only time I have used them I have also had the front fogs on, plus heated jacket, and have been moving relatively slowly.

Yup - I have . I just bought a standard car rear fog lamp and made up a bracket which attaches to the R/H pannier. I have a quick (waterproof) cable connector tucked under the R/H side panel so I can remove the whole thing nice and quickly. It runs on an independant circuit and own relay with and illuminated switch which is up in the 'dashboard' along side the speedo - it's the green one :P . (see pic)

I have changed the bracket so now the mist lamp lines up level with the bottom of the pannier rather than hanging below it. It's bright eneough to get me noticed and when I am riding in heavy rain with lots of spray it gets used and it makes me feel a whole lot better for being much more visible.

IMpressive..

Wow. thats bright.. nice one Geko..
My cycle LED units work a treat.. I have a third fitted to the outside pillion foot peg hanger which shines under the panniers when the weather is really bad.

Fitting a fog light is a good way of getting the "tail gaiting" muppets off your tail..

Hmm i may look at fitting a proper fog, but probably a bit smaller than that one.. will see... finding a place to mount it will be tricky..

Yeah the mounting position was a bit of a problem because you can't put it too close to the rear brake light or the muppets will just drive into the back when they don't see you braking - that's why I opted for it on the pannier. When I go to work I only tend to have the top box so no fog lamp but then I'm a chicken and only normally take the bike to work if it's reasonable weather (why not when I have a company car :D ) .
I am just about to fit some TT panniers and their associated iron work mounting kit so I'll be looking to reposition it onto the pannier frame some how. I have acquired the bits from various second hand sources - now I just need to try and fit them all together......

Thanks,

Lots of food for thought, as always on this site, someone has the answers.

For the foreseeable future I have no intention of riding without the TT Zegas so will try and mount the lights(s) there - especially following Gecko's comment about any lamp being too close to the stop/tail lamp. Good point. :clap

On the same subject, anyone know the different Euro laws/regs about using such lights in reduced viz? Do the lights need to be paired or positioned in any particular way?

Givi E52

I've got a lighting kit with the Givi topbox. I've wired the lights up as fog lights instead of brake lights (Ive got the LED hyperlights fitted to supplement the stop/tail light). The box gives an excellent position for the fog lights and enables easy differentiation from the brake lights.

Excuse my ignorance Mr Gecko but if you live in Belgium isn't that fog light mounted on the wrong side of the bike???

Yup .....very observant of you :thumb but the right pannier is wider than the left and it was easier to mount that side because there is also no hot exhaust to worry about melting the wiring . There is method in my madness Stella :D
