I've just gone to install this, however, has anyone found that the bolt that comes in the pack isn't long enough? I've used the bolt without the collar that comes in the bag, but am concerned that there are parts left over.

Also, the cable that screws into one end, and wraps around the gear adjusting bolt (I'm not technical :comfort), is this necessary, as I can't see the point of it?

I fitted it and found that if I had it adjusted in the high position one of the length adjuster bolts kept fouling on the side stand and jamming. I found it all very sloppy. I have returned it. The length of steel cable was designed to stop branches etc snagging but I could not se where the other end was meant to bolt onto the bike. Bit disappointed as I was hoping it might be the answer to my gear change issues.

I've not got far enough to adjust it up or down.:blast The problem with not using the provided collar is that if you tighten it up to the recommended torque, the gear lever won't move. Seems very odd. It does seem much sturdier than the BMW lever, so I can understand this could give a better gear shift. If the cable is designed for off road use, I won't bother with that, but I just need to resolve this issue with the collar.

Why can't they provide proper instructions, in English, rather than just pictures?:rob I'm no mechanic, but I can't see any way that I have got this wrong.:comfort

"but I can't see any way that I have got this wrong"

- they are usually the famous last words you utter, just before realising that you have installed a crucial part back to front.

I thought that, as I'm technically useless, but no.:augie

Normans down the pub now, so I won't hear back from him until Monday!:blast

Just been on the Wunderlich website, and there's only one option, as I thought maybe its different for the 2014.:blast

Here's the fitting instructions.

Section G is where the issue is, as the bolt isn't long enough.

Sections H and I refer to the cable, that I don't think is necessary.

Anyone have any first hand experience?

The bolt fitted fine on mine. Is it the washer that is countersunk that you have left out? Mine went on and was long enough.

Nope, I've left the countersunk washer on. Maybe eliminating that would sort it? The other alternative would be to trim the large washer that sits behind the gear lever and comes out the back, as fitting the additional washer as per the instructions seems like it would sit proud. If the instructions had a picture of the back, it would probably make more sense.

Just been out in the garage and sorted it.:thumb Bloody stupid illustrated instructions.:hide:D Good job I had some spare washers and bolts.:augie

My SW Motech adjustable gear changer for my 13 GSW came with the incorrect thread, I had to take parts off the original BMW gear changer to make the thing fit. dissapointing and of course my local AU distributor claims never heard of that before, lol. Still once fitted it is perfect.
