Looking at the BMW Motorrad website and noticed the "Bright Idea" offer they are doing. This is a system 6 flouro helmet + and LED light kit and fitting. Seems pricey at nearly £900 but they are offering 0% finance over 24 months making it £37.30 a month.

Times are tight but I reckon I can afford that without too much trouble. Anyone else gone for it already? If so what do you guys think of the stuff?

Cheers, Rob.

900 quid, for a hi-vis lid and some leds?

Seriously?

I have to agree with Fanum, especially as I am in receipt of some of his LED lights and bought some second hand BMW brackets, total cost, a shade over £130.

I have got a System 6 as well, but got it from my local Dealer for £320, and plenty on here have had better deals than that.

PS Come down to the shed.....I'll do you a brand new, in the box, unworn fluro yellow system 6 helmet, fitted LEDs (spot, flood or fog) and a free cup of coffee and bacon butty, for £700 cash :thumb2

Nope.

I have a sneaky that BMW have realised that they have three aisles of a warehouse full of bright yellow system 6 helmets somewhere, so they're bundling it up and trying to make it an 'attractive deal' :eek

Rob, I honestly won't take the slightest offence if you don't go for the spots we do, but seriously, there are many MANY other sorts out there that are cheaper and better than the BMW ones......those, to be totally honest, are the last I'd list as sensible options- yes they have the BMW logo on, and yes, they will add some light to your bike.....but genuinely, have a good look around and see what else you could get for half the price and twice the quality :thumb2

So £900 is pricey but 24 x £37.30 isnt pricey. Weird.

Mind you its only ~20 GSA tanks of fuel (~6000 odd miles) which is aroubd 2 yrs of Sainsbury adventure riding.

Fluffmeister I'm after a set of lights they look good reasonably priced how did you fit them to the bike I've got a triple black GS, did they come with the wiring I'm not to clever at that sort of thing have they got a switch, I was looking at the wunderlich set for £200 from nippys any thoughts cheers.

Doh, just seen you actually do sell these, there was me thinking you we're just joking. I think I'll have to book a day off and have a run over after payday.

I'll drop you a line before coming, cheers, Rob.

I have not fitted mine yet mate, my wife says they are from Santa so I can't have them until then :)

However they are the set in the link I posted obtained from Fanum, and delivered so quickly I think he must have snuck round in the middle of the night and dropped them off.

In preparation for fitting them, I got the Genuine GS fitting brackets (Left & right) second hand from Ebay. I also picked up a switch for them that I found after a search of the forum in the Yamaha (Super Tenere) section, which is a good match for the BMW switch gear.

I can't really tell you anymore because the wife has gone to the extent of hiding them all because she knows that one saturday when she's out I wil have them fitted :)

I saw one of those this morning come past me rider had white led lights on helmet in the shape of a cross facing to the back

not sure if thats legal re the white lights facing back
