Just wondered if anyone had gone full Akro ? Any good ? Had it on my previous air/oil cooled 1150's/ 1200's and it was nice .Hate the way the original headers are ageing / discolouring which you can't get out with solvol .any better performance ? Too noisy ? Have a full kit on my 530 T Max and it is maintance free ie no cleaning needed and a few extra ponies .any advice gladly accepted I

Thinking the same got the akrapovic end can just wondering if it's worth decating it with some stainless headers!

I've got the full system, and it gives a few more bhp, gets rid of some of the flat spots, sounds better, and looks better. You may want to consider a hilltop though, to get the full benefit.:thumb

As Nutty says, I think it is a big improvement and even better when properly set up.
one problem it is LOUD.
I would suggest Akro headers with std can and a hilltop set up.I think the headers on their own makes more of a difference than a can on its own.
Call Geoff at Hilltop and ask him about the merits of both setups.

Ditto. Full Akra system with 'Hilltop' a smidge too loud and intrusive for me. Standard can, Akra headers and another Hilltop re map for me next time. Great improvement, a lot snappier to ride and the remap eradicated the annoying stalling issue when changing from 3rd to 2nd.

Now that would make an interesting comparison.

We have Nutty's full system

plenty of std headers and Akra end cans

all we need now is

Akra headers and standard end can

then post all the bhp / torque curves for comnparison

I had the full akra system....

I took off the headers after my test ride as I found it far too loud.
I did not have the bike tuned (as we have no reputable tuners here in Mallorca) however on my test route I found that the bike had slightly more bhp, ALOT more noise and from what I felt, a smoother & stronger power delivery. The bike certainly "breathed" better at all RPM.

Despite the benefits of the akra headers, I was so happy to get back to the standard headers/cat with just the slip on Akra exhaust.
Headers were sold within hours to a really nice chap in the UK. I hope he is enjoying it!

Akrapovič do not quote figures for the increase dB levels on the “can” but do for the headers. The headers is supposed to add 3 dB at 3875 rpm. We all know that the “can” do increase the noise levels as well! It will be very handy to have access to credible noise level test and sound tract results for the various combinations of the Akrapovič header & “can” combinations, as used on the K50 & K51.

I do have the “can” fitted but do not want the noise levels going through the roof either. Those chromed standard headers are not my favourite look.

I've got Remus headers and Akra can (dB killers have been removed). It's also been Hilltopped. Lovely smooth power delivery from low down, will bimble along with no problems in town and and on the open road overtakes are a doddle with all that instant grunt at your disposal.

I love it and I don't think it's too loud at all (but I am quite deaf and wear ear plugs)! According to those who have followed me it sounds lovely when you get the power down and an added advantage is cars and pedestrians definitely hear you coming! :thumb

Also a huge advantage to get rid of the cat and flappy valve thing, as these seem to be quite prone to sticking (I know one owner on here who's on his fourth replacement )

I got both and it sounds awesome. Just need the hilltop treatment now

Can anyone post a video with sound? Need to know if the neighbours will hate me.

They won't, as long as you don't ride around your neighbourhood like a twat.:thumb

The benefit of the full system is that my wife can hear me when I'm about a mile away, so normally has a drink ready for me when I get home!:D

Perhaps sone sort of comparison along the following lines would make interesting reading. Measurements being taken for noise levels, gains in hp, torque and weight reduction:

1. Full Akra system
2. Standard can, Akra headers
3. Full Remus system
4. Standard can, Remus headers

This mornings thought

Other than for adding some farkles on your bike I cant really see the point of adding more expense/ faffing about/ noise etc.

It will hardly be noticable for performance, will be too loud, and I`m sure the loss of weight wont be noticable ( well not as much as removing the huuuuge metal luggage boxes anyway.)

Just ride it and spend monies on touring, thats my thought.

I dont even have a pipe on my ZX10 track bike, too much power for me anyway.

That said I did a tour of the borders with some guy who had the full system on a new GSA LC. Sounded great but not £1700 great!!

Got my system fitted at weekend & took my first ride through central London on Monday. The extra noise overcomes the hazard that headphones in the ears of cyclists & pedestrians causes. I had ear plugs in.
