Had one of those silly mishaps, where i hit a large pothole at about 90mph on a fully loaded-up BMWR 1150GSA.

Result is a slightly flattened rim ( 1 inch ) on the left hand side of the rear wheel....two snapped spokes, and maybe another 3 that do not look quite right.

I have been ringing around various advertised shops that repair wheels, but i seem to be getting a lot of " cannot repair that type/BMW wheel "......Now,is it truly dead or does someone special repair them ?

I have sourced a second-hand wheel to replace it with, but im thinking of having a second set of wheels ( hopefully repaired ) with knobblies on them rather than having off-road tyres fitted all year round.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. I managed to find a compnay in Birmingham who were able to repair the rim. However TBH you are better off sourcing a new wheel from Ebay - it will be much cheaper. I think I ended up paying about £75 for the repair and another £30 for postage.

HTH.

Thankyou indeed for the information

The Devon Rim company seem like the best ones for the job....i will give them a shout.

All i have to do now is replace the rear shock as well, just checked the bike over and i cannot find anything bent or cracked on the frame or mountings,or unusal movement in the swingarm and wheels.....however my rear shock is totally screwed, dead as the proverbial parrot.

Looks like WP shocks for me,hyperpro is a 4 week or so wait and i wont fit Ohlins on principal.
