Anyone got a "Basic" LC without ESA etc?

Still waiting to see if the 1200GS/TB is going to be written off - should find out tomorrow

If it is which is likely, then will look at getting a new LC. Never been keen on having all the bells and whistles (current TB only has ABS, heated grips, led indicators and OBC) and spent some of the money saved on Wilbers non-ESA suspension

So thought was to potentially order a basic LC (which would already come with ABS and ASC as standard) and then just specify heated grips and maybe day time running lights and nothing else.

Anyone running this set up and what is the non-ESA suspension like? Also what functions does the OBC have as standard?

Did you have a special order triple black as I have one that has all the bells and whistles as standard that came on the bike from build ,ESA
,ASC and so on an so on

I can report that after 8,000 miles the handling is excellent, especially two up with luggage, the power great! and the gearbox is ok.

^^^like his but I have the cruise control , LED day lights was part of a package when I ordered mine. 3700 miles no major issues , apart from the gearbox 1-2-3 change got worse.

I'm told by the Park Lane dealer all the 2014 models (bikes built from September 2013 onwards) will have riding modes.

No - one that was already in the system when I ordered it in December 2011 and turned up in about 7 days

The only standard fit items on the old Triple Black were the wire wheels and extra black bits

Checking the BMW site it looks like all new LC's now come with the following Standard Factory Fit Equipment:

• Hand Guards
• Pannier Fastenings
• Main Centre Stand
• White Indicators
• BMW Motorrad ABS
• ASC, Rain and Road Riding Modes

No mention of Power modes.

So just adding heated grips keeps the price to under £12k which is very tempting

Pity my old GSA panniers will not fit but I guess I can flog them easily enough to fund some new ones.

It is true. I recently hired a base model LC for 4 days. It was a very early bike and had no options fitted - even heated grips. No selectable maps, fancy suspension or traction control. It was awesome. However note that the throttle was overly sensitive - it was like a switch - even when compared to a Ducati MS ridden in sports mode. All current base model LC's come with 4 switchable maps as standard. If you don't want switchable maps you need a very early base model bike.

If I was buying, which I just just might, I'd go for base spec, heated grips and nothing else. Then add a set of Ohlins and race can and be done. Cracking bike.

They don't. They come with Rain and Road. Three other modes (Dynamic, Enduro, Enduro Pro) are available in the "Pro modes" either as part of a package or separate.

I think that is the 2014 model with the extra 'modes' the 2013 does not have any 'modes' or ASC.

Agreed - this will I assume be for the new 2014 year model so you get a bit extra in the price whether you want it or not

Mine is basic but for cruise, heated grips and now a Powerbronze screen.
I find bike to be fine as it is. As soon as you get on it you know not to give it a fistful in the wet, so that is rain mode and I don't find it that hard to give the knob a couple of turns to stiffen the rear. As far as LED's go----don't care at all. Saved heaps of money too.

That is a good question,my dealer didn't know either . What I can tell you thou, is that my second WC has much softer throttle response than my first one, both basic.
I am happy as it is

The early base model bikes didn't have any modes or switchable maps or whatever you want to call it. Just one map - almost certainly dynamic. Very sensitive throttle but you get used to it in a day or so.

My dealer told me that all current bikes now include switchable maps as standard. I was told that this would include 4 modes but there appears to be some conflicting info above stating that standard bikes only get 2 modes. Dunno.

Regardless, if you want a bike with no modes you need to track down a used or new old stock very early WC.

I have MPG (2 indicators), range,outside temp,engine temp,date,time,odometer,2 trip odometers,gear indicator . If I am correct that it. I use the speedo on Garmin Montana( larger display,better in direct sun light,km display,over the speed display even in Poland and is a GPS ) is better than the one in the dash,which I don't have anyway
Personally I only use the range and MPG display.

Thanks - so similar to the old OBC option for the old hexhead.

My bike is definitely written off and so time to start thinking about what to order next.

In no hurry as cannot even drive until October due to spinal surgery - so will see what deals can be done later in the year

I don't know what mode my basic bike is, throttle seemed sensitive compared to my previous 2010 twin-cam, but I got used to it very quickly and seems utterly normal and easy to control now.
