anyone got a discount on a new WC TE

Didn't get a discount but a very acceptable PX price and a deal on the first service.

Steve

i live in Germany (just to the west of Cologne) and have bought my LC from the dealer in Cologne (Procar). I got a 6% discount.
- it drops to 3% if there is a trade-in.
i collect the bike next Tuesday.

They do not have the TE model here in the Fatherland. So mine has the Komfort Paket + Dynamic 2 Paket+ Varios (l&r) + Tankbag.

In white, as everyone and their dog out here seems to be having the Thunder Grey. And the dealer told me that they are struggling to shift the blue ones.

Well i think its all tosh...

I could probably sell the wife, the spare camel, a kid or two, and go and buy one, but do you know what, i wont, why?, cos the bike i have at the the moment is 12 years old, works perfectly, is reliable as time, and i see no point in becoming another brick in the wall of consumerism.
We buy these things with views of longevity, the possibility of these gadgets lasting 100k with no troubles, when most of the dudes on here, just do 5k every 2 years running to and fro, to costa coffee on a sunday morning, then trade in for the latest model, what a fecking waste.
I can see the virtue of changing to a different lighter model to go where a GS wouldnt dare go, cos they are so feckin lard arse, but to change to a new model cos it's WC, or 2 kilos lighter, or 1 mph faster or 3 hp more powerful, sorry i dont see the rub.
Perhaps i'm the only one thinking this? and i should be flying the bm flag as high as poss.
I run an 1150, its going really well, it did 20k in 3 years touring without any bother,so why change?
I'm quite chuffed, when i park in a mass of bikes, they all look at mine, prob thinking what a croc o shyte, but none the less, they ignore this modernist brick in the the wall stuff, and look at mine.
I'll look to chop her in when it has a heart attack somewhere, and refuses to go anymore.
My Mate dave's gs has done 95k and been all round the world, batterd to fook it is,but she has a heart of gold and rumbles on.
Im rambling here, so i'll fook orf.
I'm getting all nostalgic now and need to change my adult nappy as it smells of wee.:rob

Money is an almost unlimited commodity. There is plenty swashing around to be accumulated by anyone prepared to put in a little effort and imagination to scoop some up. Time isn't. And one has no idea how much they have. So personally I'd rather treat my limited resource with more respect. And have it now...:rob

Do you actually live your bike that way, though? For example, what do you drive, and what sort of houses do you have?

Do you fly first class, and do you have your shoes made for you?

If money is so easy to come by, I assume that you actually have a plane on standby, as checking in takes time away that you'll not get back.

Personally, in line with most people, I recognise that there's a balance to be struck.

Yes, if I want it enough. And I dont have to steal to get it, I don't waste precious time trying to save a couple of quid. (which isn't to say I won't negotiate hard). Time is more precious. But then, I'm a SouthernBoy.:hug

Recommend North Oxford ( Simon )to buy,it worked out to 2.5% discount on the deal. My usual dealer offered me £50:blast off the top box and 10% deposit ( because I wanted a plain Jaine with h/g & cruise:eek ) on the bike. As a matter of fact I had the feeling that he didn't want a sell, unless I went for a TE :nenau .
So I walked. What is annoying is that I spent my cash ( service & gear ) with them since they opened, I should have tried N.O years ago.
Collecting mine in June from NO:D.

No discount but good px price plus free first service 10% off any accessories.

I tried one while having mine serviced, and asked what the cost to change was. It turned out to be book-bottom for mine (immaculate, full history etc, all the options), against full price on the new one that they have sitting unsold in the showroom. Full price including, of course, the £300 delivery charge, for a bike that they've bought, and had delivered, and don't have a buyer for.

Anyway, I've countered them, at a price that's about 10% off on the new one. If they want to deal at that price, I'll have a new bike, if they don't I'll enjoy the current one for a bit longer (although a bit less than I would had I not tried the new one...)

I'll let people know the outcome.

10% is probably most of their margin, I won't hold my breath for a positive outcome.......

good rant ... are you a Yorkshireman by any chance? :)

Try Kirk at Williams Manchester ..I got a deal on the new one and a very good px price ... !

I popped in to my local dealers a couple of weeks ago just to have a look. The PX deal they offered was pretty rubbish so I advertised my bike on here for a sensible price and it was sold and gone within 24 hours.

I then did a deal which I was happy with.

Cash is king and you'll always have your pants taken down on a p/x in my experience

I haven't ridden a new one and to be honest aren't that bothered so the salesman would have a job on shifting one to me

Not really sure why everyone is so guarded about what actually they paid and the deal they got in actual £ notes :nenau

I bought my last new GSA with premium pack for £10650 cash in 2009 with free panniers, a cracking deal and unlikely to ever be repeated!

Been offered TE, Wire wheels, Luggage, Crash Bars for £6k with 2011 TB trade in.
Does that sound good ? as it is make my mind up time.

Take a couple of pictures and see if anyone will buy it for what you are being offered part-ex. You will then get a better price for your new one and someone else on here will get a relative bargain.

Getalife I was offered £10500 for my triple black and paid £14300 for a TE with luggage no spokes though oh and a free first service and 10% of accessories hope this helps.

Yes it does, cheers, lot better than what I've been offered. Time to negotiate I think.:beerjug:

As a very frequent bike buyer , its the cost to change which is important.Look through the whole deal, as often a good or bad part ex is a big factor, the actual discount on the list price is just one part of the deal..
I also finance my purchases from savings, so interest rate cost is very low !.. so contract plans and finance deals rarely make sense.Honda did a 0% purchase contract plan last year which was outstanding , just didnt want the bike !:barf
I aint rushing to test a LC as yet cos its still the honeymoon period. Once the rush has gone, better deals will emerge.
My experience with Triumph last year seems to have been repeated this year by BMW. Its what hold me back, even though I have cash to get one now. I had such a good deal on the hexhead last year that a change this year will seem financial suicide.
If I didnt have a nearly new GS to trade, I might feel differently.

I also meant to ask if the vario panniers which fit the old bike will also fit the new ?

Only if they go on backwards because the back end of the new bike has a couple of fairly obvious differences to the old one.
