Hi all
I have a 2007 1200GS with a low seat and an Airhawk seat cushion. After a long ride I get a pain right at the top of my left thigh/buttock.
I've read the rave reviews of Sargent seats and am considering buying one.
My dilemma is that, though I have a low seat, the Airhawk adds about an inch so I'm thinking that a standard height Sargent might be right.
Anyone have one they're prepared to loan me for a try please?
I live in Hayfield nr. Glossop, north Derbyshire. I'm pretty close to Stockport, Manchester and Sheffield and a regular customer at Rainbow in Rotherham.
I don't mind spending money on a new seat but don't want to waste it if the seat doesn't fit or solve the problem.
Cheers

You can try mine if you want. I also have a tourtech seat too ...

Come over to Slough. OR I will be at the East Mids event, so that's another opportunity. Or if there is another Go Do One or Paulbde tour next year .. I will be there too.

Cheers Intermediate.
Thanks for the prompt offer, very grateful.
I could do with someone a little nearer but I'll keep your offer in mind; I suffer alergies when travelling south of Sheffield (just kidding!)

I know Geoff .. it must be hard to come see where the real men live :D

I tried a Sagent (low) seat on my 07 GSA the other day. Seemed more sculpted (& therefore more comfortable on the inner thigh than the standard BMW low seat).

It was significantly firmer however & I'm not sure if this is going to be that comfortable.

Does anyone make a low seat with the same profile as the Sargent but with a gel pad in it?

Has to be low as I suffer from both legs being shorter than the other:P

How many seats have you got:confused:

I checked yesterday on delivery time for a Sargent front seat for my 12GS, seems its 4 weeks min:eek:
The seat on the 12GS is not bad at all to be honest but I like it in the high position and it tends to keep sliding you into the tank which gets very uncomfortable on a long run. Compromise is front of the seat set to high and rear set to low, this works good but leaves an ugly 1 inch gap between the seat and tank. I believe the Sargent seat is shaped so that it naturaly tilts back a bit which I think would suit me better:D

You can try mine, but I'm even further away :D

4 weeks suggested time is actually pretty good for sargent, they usually say 6 weeks, but personally they've never taken more than 4 weeks for me. They make 'em specially in the states and ship them over, or so I've been told.

Hi Intermediate,

I too would like to try out the seat for my R1200GS, i wouldnt mind having a look at the differant types you have and i live in Feltham just a couple of miles away. I had a corbin on my old Africa Twin and it was wonderous :)

i would be happy to meet you anywhere to have a look.

Cheers

I fitted a low Sargent seat to my 1200GS 1000km ago. Initial impression is that it is very firm. It is shaped to support your buttocks over a wider area than the stock seat. This means that when you put your feet down, the seat shape makes this more of a stretch. The seat settled in over the first few hundred kms to become very comfortable. A short ride will answer your question about leg reach, but probably won't help in discerning the level of comfort.

Geoff, I've got a Sargeant seat you can try but it's a standard, not low. Feels lower than the standard BM seat to me though, plus I find I don't need an Airhawk on top of it.

I'm in Holmfirth, so not a million miles away. PM me if you want to give it a go?

Steve
