I've got BMW system panniers, thinking of complementing them with a ZEGA top box to carry my camping stove and/or camera gear ... pillion comfort not an issue because Mrs Retro refuses and I won't take anyone else unless they sign a legal disclaimer LOL ...

... this kit any good then?

I've got one . It's brilliant. Get the t/tech inner bag with it, this makes it even better.

I've got the big one ;-)

It's good kit for sure Retro.

I've got the XL version. It holds two helmets or a lot of other stuff. It have it in the normal position when in "full luggage setup", with side panniers.

On short trips or commuting, I have it in the other direction, the long side along the bike axle. That makes it not so wide looking from behind and it puts the weight more to the front.

On my GSA I had to work out something to get it above the seat, but on a standard GS you can simply remove the pillion seat and put it on top of the toolbox I suppose.

Consider it before you buy I'd say. Don't worry about quality, it's good stuff.

GOT ONE

Top piece of kit, just need to drill out the rivets and fit a locakable lock. Went for a Large rather than an XL in the event, more than adequate for my paltry needs.

Looks like an organ donor/pizza delivery box but who cares, suits the streamlined aerodynamics of my GS lol ....

Thanks again, friends

Zega top box

I've heard that touratech are now selling these boxes "ready battle scarred" for that "globetrotting traveller" look,

Stage 1 ;a few dents and strategically placed scratches
Stage 2 ; the above plus assorted "weathered stickers"
Stage 3 : The ultimate-no stickers, dents or scratches just looks like it's been "handled with care" by the carrier ;)

Did you have the designer type Retro?
