Thinking about getting an old (read cheap) motorbike and sidecar outfit.. Not really something I'm into, but my dad is now too long in the tooth to ride, but riding and motorbikes is his life long passion and I reckon it'd be good for me and him to carry on riding with an outfit..

Anyone got something gathering dust in the North West/Manchester area?

Many thanks.

As above nice idea, can't help it but when anyone mentions sidecars I always think of poor old Olive...

I should have said, none of the above.. British, Japanese, BMW etc preferably, cheers.
Remember that an outfit is very different to ride.
Also without reverse gear it's VERY awkward to turn around, hence my choice ( with 650cc engine fitted circa 1985) easy to kick start
My military spec was under £2500 to buy, I've spent an additional £300 All in Inc paint, tyres, tonneau cover, military extras and even made a mock up machine gun 😂😂
Stops Road Rage incidents 😂😂

I will add BMW badges next year ( it's 40yrs old then) and MOT exempt.

Your alternative is to buy a side car and fit it to an existing bike !

Good luck with your search

I think I've found one (touch wood).. And it's very local to me as well.. A Royal enfield bullet 500 efi with a decent chair..

It's a beauty! Been very well cared for by a lovely gent who, before he retired, used to build high end race cars.. He VERY generously sold it me at a fraction of its worth, due to wanting to do a good deed.

Yesterday I jumped on a train to Peterborough to buy it: the seller picked me up from the train station and drove me to his lovely home to do the deal.. I drove/rode it back to Lancashire via the Peak District (approx 5 hours ride).. It rode without fault.. My first time riding an outfit! I duckt taped an old tank bag to it for a place to put my phone for a satnav!

Fantastic. 😍

How did you find your first ride. ?

Quite a learning curve, like half bike half car. The evening low sun was in blinding me the whole way through the Peak District, making left handers a challenge, trying to guage the width of the thing..

The bike runs perfectly.

If anyone else is looking for an outfit there’s one listed for sale in the new BMW club magazine.

In Fife Scotland.
