I'm stumped. Been sent what should have been a standard rear shock off a GSA and received the below:

<a href="http://s1284.photobucket.com/user/petergdixon245/media/P1020643_zps3805967c.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a562/petergdixon245/P1020643_zps3805967c.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo P1020643_zps3805967c.jpg"/></a>

It has no obvious part number, but is a manually adjusted preload shock with rebound adjusted by a little black round plastic knob on the upper silver part. The lower mount has a slightly longer location tube/bush..

Numbers on the outside of the piston are: 57 3 94

On the silver piece, under a BMW logo raised on the metalwork are a round symbol with 93 in the centre and 12 segments around the outside. Underneath that is a separate marking with the numeral 7.

I would guess that the round marking with 12 outer segments and the 93 in the centre is build date.....

Clearly, I would have expected the lower mounting point to be flat on both sides to fit into the swinging arm....

Your thoughts/ideas much appreciated.

Cheers

Pete
