Hey everyone,

Have picked up my 2610, got me a motorcylce power lead, but dont know how to install. Rainbows dont advise fitting it directly to the battery, and I dont want to pay 1hr labour + vat for the previledge of soldering a couple of wires in somewhere.

Has anyone got any advice, and or can offer assistance? Not in a rush to get it fitted anytime soon, but just wondering how other people have done it etc?

Also, was thinking of buying a Ttech cross bar thingy to go over the clocks to install the Ttech mount i've got for it. Anyone got any suggestion to this, or advise installing somewhere else? Dont really want to put on the bars if I can help it..

Thanks in advance :thumb

If it's on a 1200, i could help and fit it for you, but I'm in Congleton.

Shouldn't be an issue if fused. My Garmin Zumo 550's wired directly to the battery - in fact, Astle BMW did it for me. If you leave it on the bike there is the potential for running the battery flat, I suppose.

Chris - you should have mentioned this at Squires!

My 1200GS('05) has a small GPS connection as standard just under the yoke. Motorad concepts do a cable that connects a 2610 to this with a ram mount - very easy and very tidy!

I can show you where and how next time we meet. Alternatively I'm due down at rainbow sometime next week for then to do a bit of tweaking to the S.

Pm me if want to chat.

I am sure I can help - I am over near Rotherham so not far away, only problem is I am working this weekend and away in Holland next week but if you havent done anything by weekend of 3rd /4th drop me a Pm and I will give you my mobi number. Shouldnt take too long.

I have a Garmin (on a 1200) but I wanted it removeable so fitted a plug (same as what is on a Optimizer battery charger) near to the mounting point so I can unplug when not in use. If you fit it to the aux socket (solder it to the rear of it) then it will power down after a few seconds with the ignition off to save draining your battery.

Ooh much closer to home!

Got a soldering iron and all that fandangled stuff?

Yeh no probs - have all the gear but you will end up with yellow or red extension cable if your cable is not long enough to reach the aux socket (if you want black then you would have to bring your own) - no need to take the tank off providing you are happy to have wires thread through where we can (then next time you have the tank off you can tidy them up.)

Looking like the 3rd at moment, if the weather is crap we can always stick it in my garage to do the job.

Regards
Rik
