Just got back from a ride, bike on centre stand, and this pinged off

Anyone know what it is?

Definitely a circlip, but the big question is what did it come off?

How big is it (diameter) ?

Most likely is something like the centre stand or side stand pivot.....but all you can do is get close and look for a spindle/shaft etc with a grooved shank that is missing a retaining circlip.

The size will give you a pretty good indication of what to look for :thumb2

Cheers Bill, that's what I thought. Will get the Mrs to get her tools out! :beerjug::D

I think that's the headstock retaining clip ......... don't worry you're not the first ......... :aidan

Photo shows the outer left hand side of the centre stand pivot pin, it's off this side or the other! Look there 1st!

Found it! It's from the inner right hand pivot pin. Question is, how on earth do I get it back on, as there's no flexibility?

Won't be easy without circlip pliers, might be a call to BMW assist unless you have someone local with pliers?

Well, I might as well call BMW assist out, see what all the fuss is about! :JB

You don't want the pin coming out! When you ring up tell them to bring some circlip pliers!

I have a cheap Micky mouse pair of pliers and am in Bracknell if you want to see if we can refit the circlip? See what BMW assist say though as they aren't the best I use them taking the baffle in and out on my Honda but they are a struggle!

Well I've got a really nice pair of circlip pliers and .i'm not too far away.
However I'm a cyclist so apparently can't be trusted to ride sensibly on the road and deserve to be shunted off it at the first opportunity!!
Far too dangerous therefore me to venture out and deliver so you'll have to sort it out yourself :P :D
