Its a long shot but does anyone know where I can get a new battery fitted on an 1150GS on a Saturday morning (Told yo it was a long shot). I'm supposed to be going from Aberdeen9ish) to Abroth then via Killin to Campbelltown and returning the following day. My battery has just given up the ghost when I need it. I can jump it to start it but I dont suppose this will be doing it much good all teh time. Its down to 7Volts with the ignition on:(

I can only ask but think its a non starter (pun intended)...:D

They carry lots of batteries in stock so got to be worth a call:thumb2

When I think about it I have a spare BMW battery in my Ural outfit which is a direct fit... just need to figure out how to get at the one on the GS... looks like a tank off job (and as luck would have it I recon its full of fuel too...:( ) Just off to look for a video on YouTube there must be one.

Thanks Mort.:thumb2

Andy, if you are stuck I've got a spare here, if you can get started, I'm on your way to Campbeltown...and I've just done it...it would take 10 mins in my workshop.

You should not need to remove the tank or fuel lines. Simply undo the tank fixing bolt and lift it at the back sufficient to give you the space you need to remove the dud and insert the replacement. Should be easy enough.

Gerry,
I missed this posting as had left for Campbelltown by 0730. I took a set of jump leads and just jumped it everytime we stopped. Only problem is those new fangled 1200s dont have the remote +ve post by the starter so it was a seat off job everytime from a mate with a shiney new Triumph adventure.

Its definately the battery, it is down to 7Volt when I put the ignition on but jumps okay from a good source. If you don't need the battery anymore I'll buy it from you for what you paid if you don't need it anymore, if not I'll order one in.

In addition to my previous remarks on Campbelltown, i take them all back. Absolutely great place. Best B&B I've been in for years run by a couple of Londoners who were fed up with the crime down south. It was a bg old Victorian house just up the road from the backpackers on the opposite side past the creamery. What a fantastic couple and absolutely spick and span. Not only that but a fine selection of whichies in the Royal Hotel and probably the best curry in the last 5 years at the Taj Mahal for peanuts (compared to Aberdeen prices). A main course for £5-95 and it was so good. I'll definately be back:thumb2

Thanks Gerry, I'm offshore this week so dont need one in a hurry so you put it in your 1100 and I'll order one. I just thought you had ordered one by mistake and were stuck with it.:thumb2
