Just wondered if anyone has any experience, good or bad, of one of these tents. Seem well made, pack small, fairly light and pitch fly and inner together in around 5 minutes. I would want it to suit single night stays. Thanks.

Force 10 is the better end of Vango!
Their poles were the weak point at one time, but not sure if they were Yunan that failed on mine?
One thing for sure is the Tension Band System really does work, and more use than some poxy washing line or gear loft.
I'd say yes, go for it. (y)

If weight is not the be all end all, check out the Robens Voyager 2EX. I've got one of those and it's a good sized tent - with a decent porch to chill/cook in should the weather be less than ideal.

I already have a Vango similar to the Robens Voyager 2EX, which is great for more than just one overnight stay. What drew me to the Xenon, being only two poles, was the outer/inner pitch as one and the advertised pitch time. There would be ample storage space for my riding kit, and the vestibule area seems large enough to cook in if need be. The storage space and quick erect/ break down time is paramount as it would only be used for one night stops whilst touring. I’ve seen a few U tube reviews, and the only minus as far as I can see would be the possible addition of some guying points, to stop the fly sheet touching the inner in gusty winds.

Bloody good design the TBS on the Vango range; i've seen most of the campsite flat whilst mine as still been stood after one particular storm a few years ago. :D

FYI Terra Nova are having a sale soon - 25th to 29th August.

As Bod says, the Force 10 range are generally speaking the better end of the Vango range but for me I’d be looking at the storage space for wet bike gear and a dry area to cook in if you don’t like cooking in the main tent.

Can you get a sample of both the standard and extended version put next to each other still packed in their bags so you can judge whether the benefits outweigh the bulk?

Another point is that my experiences suggest Vango tents always come in bags that are a tight fit when you’ve used them so you may be fighting it the first couple of times you use it.

Spent the morning trawling through You tube reviews of two pole tunnel tents, more confused than ever as most have glowing and disparaging opinions. Thanks for the heads up on Terra Nova, DJ123, the Hoolie 2 is very similar to the Xenon, although packs fatter, is slightly heavier, but has a slightly higher HH for the fly, 4000 against 3000. A larger Vango I have has an oversized top opening carry sack, which makes packing it away, a lot easier, especially if wet. I’m still leaning towards the Xenon, due mainly to past favourable Vango ownership and good customer service dept. However it could need a couple of modifications, to remedy points regularly complained of, which you don’t expect to do to a new tent.

You might be interested in a Wild Country Helm compact, 4000mm, 2 poles, pack size 32cm x 20cm. Inner & outer together or separate, dead easy to put and take down and high enough to sit on a chinese folding chair inside in the middle if its raining.

Thanks mad-dawg, however I prefer the tunnel style as it provides more vestibule area for storage and/or coffee making if the weather’s bad.

Terra Nova / Wild country have a 2 year pole replacement policy - regardless of how it broke which is a bonus! My Wild Country Trisar 2 tent has been great in all weathers. The only downside is inner up first, but its a fairly quick process so i don't mind it.

Since 1991 I have endured the weight issues of Khyams, for the bomb proof construction and quick erect ability, especially if only staying one night. So pitch together in 5/7 minutes and small pack size is the goal for purely one night camps. Being the wrong side of 75 and solo camping, everything needs to be fairly quick and easy to manage. The plan is to hopefully get a lighter bike for next year, no doubt a T7, so a drastic scaling down of kit bulk has triggered this tent search. My Lone Rider Moto tent has really been relegated to car camping at race meetings etc.

Being a Libran, making decisions is always nerve wracking, but pulled the pin and ordered the Xenon. The 2022 model is grams heavier than the current 2023 model, as far as I could find out, so went for that as it’s cheaper, along with the dedicated footprint. The stock pegs are bound to be average at best, so MSR Groundhogs got ordered as well.

Well we need pictures of its first time out of its bag! :thumb2

Take a look at the new Vango Parador Xl.

The inside is huge

Full of miserable fat fucks who think money can buy a good time.

Give me a great location, some nylon & sticks, good mates, excellent beer ... and the youth, heart & soul not to join the above club.
