Anyone removed their accelerator unit?

I purchased it for my 05 bike, and recall it was an improvement. Now have the '10 bike, still use it for track days, but I can't tell the difference. It should result in bike accelerating better, but hard to judge versus different drivers and levels on the track. So yes on and off on my 2010 bike, off for normal use.

I wouldn't have thougt it would make a blind bit of difference on the track. Where you'll notice a difference is round town, low rev pick up, second gear junctions, filtering......... :thumb

I took mine off. It didn't work very well from cold when on fast idle.

It should result in increased fueling under transient conditions by fooling the ECU in seeing a lower intake temperature before the Lambda sensor cuts fuelling back for emission purposes in steady state mode. I would think that on the track you are nearly never in steady state mode, and therefore it provides more fuel all the time, just as in 2nd gear pick ups etc.

A on/off switch for back to back comparison would be great, but due to the series/parrallel resistance set up in the cable you can't do that.

20,000 miles later, and I still have mine connected. Bike runs crap without it.
It did confuse the the BMW tech when my bike had it's 18k service though. However, they were perfectly happy with the mod.

Did a 350 mile round trip with mine, took it off at start and fitted it before coming home.

MPG was within 1mpg on both 175 mile legs, but bike ran like crap with it disconnected (popping, banging, lurching and generally far from smooth)

Will be staying on until I sell the bike

I have taken mine off but only because I have fitted a Wunderlich Performance Controller. I did try running then together as a trial but the bike ran too rich.

Took mine off a while ago, fitted a Booster Plug (if that's what they're called), removed that and fitted a PCV - much better all round / through the range.

No hassle with insurance either.

I have to agree...
i cant detect any noticeable improvement with either the Accelerator module or booster plug fitted ...
IMHO with the bike de-cated it actually runs worse.:(
So I'm current weighing up the Wunderlich "performance controller" against the opposition... but in the mean time i've put the cat back on...
