Hi,

I've seen post on the tinterweb where people have retrofitted the 4 button mount with the lock assemble using a BMW kit to save buying a new BMW or aftermarket lockable mount.

Has anyone done this and got part numbers/fitting details?

Cheers

Ty

I'm also interested in any constructive answers you receive? I've just bought a Nav V with 4-button mount but didn't even consider the possibility of being able to lock it on as it's a totally different mount design from the WC GSs. I was assuming I'd have to take it off every time I stopped and left the bike. Mind you, I have to take my Drift ghost off every time anyway when I'm on tour. :nenau

Just spoke to a lady called Levi at Williams BMW, Manchester. There is a 9 part kit costing £41 ish. Includes necessary bits to code the lock to your ignition key.

Here's the email list of parts as ordered from the dealer.
Anyone wanting a copy of the repair manual - PM me with an email address and I'll forward it on.

Thanks for the list of item part numbers. After I sent you my post yesterday I realised I have mine mounted on a RAM ball on a Migsel adaptor. I'll have to change it to a lockable version too! If you have any pictures of how the locking system looks I'd appreciate seeing it / them. Ta!

Will do. As far as how it looks goes, it should look like the standard fit 4 button lockable mount fitted to the WC bike so you could view it in person next time you are in the showroom. The mounting arrangement will be integral to the 4 button mount and shouldn't effect the cradle to bike mounting arrangement.
The only issue could be key access depending on LHS/RHS location preference.

Update - BMW have said the 9 part lock assy kit isn't designed to fit / will not fit the BMW 4 button mount. Looking at the new locking mount on a WC bike it's a slim central holder with a back plate mounted lock assy and lock mechanism.

Looking at the list of parts against the exploded parts view these should be all the bits needed to make up the locking back plate which then has the sat nav mount fixed to it.

The Satnav mount inc wiring loom is £90. The parts are £41. Time taken to build it up and make it work ?? as yet.
A new complete unit is £210.
