Anyone ridden a 33bhp 600?

The SV is the sensible choice due to the low down grunt and hence rideability, plus its still a capable bike once the restriction is no longer needed. The restricted 4 cyl Kwak may feel asthmatic in comparison, even though it looks more sporty.

No lecturing intended, but I believe that its wise to invest in some post-test advanced skills training for your lad once he shakes off any wobbles. Better than spending the money on farkles for the bike, and it could end up being the best money you ever spent if it keeps him safe and makes him a better rider.

I think I have swayed him to a SV650, but we are still going to test the ZX6R this morning.

He has seen a nice SV in Stoke [200 Miles away], it is 4 years younger than the Kawa, a third of the mileage and only a couple of hundred quid more - we will probably give it a look.

Regards the Advanced Training, I hold an IAM certificate and have taught him since he started on his Speedfight, but he will be joining the local IAM for training but will be unable to sit the IAM test until 3 months after passing his bike test.

His crash in November was probably down to inexperience rather than bad riding.

My 17 year old son passed his test on the instructors 125 and was immediately on the road on a restricted Kawasaki GPZ500S. Great little bike and idea first proper bike I think. It keeps up with my GS up to 100mph and is fast enough.

He got insurance through Bennets for only £390 which I thought was amazing.

Pleanty of GPZ500s about and they seem to be cheap to run.
