Anyone seen these cheapies?

Do you want a critical part of your Bike to be made from the best, cheapest Chinese Aluminium?

what could possibly go wrong.

Not to be dramatic.......
pegs snap, feet snap, bike crashed, neck snapped.

probably in that order 🤣

BMW quality ensures that nothing like that could ever happen - could it? A foot peg couldn't come off, oh unless shit quality circlips fell off and they had to do a recall!

Are any of the disparaging replies based on experience, either of the parts I linked to or other similarly priced items, or it it simply an assumption that eBay/made in China is inherently rubbish? I've memories of genuine BMW 719 footpegs having problems: https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/option-719-adjustable-footrests-only-2-holes.331671/ and https://www.rideapart.com/news/533864/bmw-gs-accessory-footpeg-recall/ refer. If the mothership's (presumably) carefully made in Germany parts fail then are cheap Chinese parts any worse?

Fellow rider went for the Ali express levers . On arrival they looked great , well made , great finish and presented in a similar way to Evo tec , but with a certain air of hmmmmm around the the whole thing . Too good to be true ? Well few weeks later the front brake lever split on the area around the adjuster , luckily he noticed as could feel the position change . The lever was cracked thro and if he had not felt it it would have been disastrous. Cheap is cheap for a reason . I personally with a high investment of a new premium bike would not adorn it with copies, cheap ones at that .

It's a bit of a hit and miss. I have AliExpress levers on my GS since new (Jan 2021) and they still work great after 15000 miles.

Rather not have a miss personally , you pay your money and take your risks , some may be stacked higher due to materials being produced under the standard process etc.
I have seen many copied items , as good as they look ,are not the the same quality and are more prone to material / design failure.

My general experience in life is that things tend to be cheap for a reason and on something as critical as foot pegs its not a risk i'd take. Things often look the same but the materials used are often not up to scratch.

Many years ago i bought some replacement copy honda indicators that were just a pile of crap, the plastic was thin and brittle and faded at the slightest hint of UV rays. In the bin they went.

Remember, they all come from the same factory in China - I read it here numerous times

Me - I'm happy for the company that originally designed the item, invested to make sure it was safe and put it in to production to make whatever profit they want.

My choice to buy, or otherwise.

Possibly not, but at least BMW will recall the product - will Aliexpress?

A lot of people are not forking out £20k plus on a bike. They are only shelling out £xxx/month in rental. This may explain their willingness to adorn their bike with lower cost accessories.

Just a thought.
