Does putting these wheels on alter the handling in anyway?

looks really good, how much different does it handle compared to gs on the standard rims
ps would take off the rear hugger to match the front of the bike-nice effect with no mudguard :thumb

Thanks…

I’ve ridden over 2000 miles now with these wheels and tyres fitted. And I can report that the overall road handling is vastly improved. Ground clearance is not a problem and I’ve taken the tyres right to the edges with only the foot peg touching down.

Tight Twisty ‘B’ Roads: :thumb
By far the greatest improvement is in the way the bike corners, I can now hold a much tighter line in the corner and its much easier to change direction through nadgery and bumpy ‘S’ bends, without the tendency to run wide, as before. Excellent.

Fast bendy ‘A’ Roads: :thumb
Again, ultra quick steering and direction changing through fast bends, but without any of the twitchiness associated sports bikes (and even more stable that the KTM 950 Supermoto). Again toe grindingly Excellent

Straight roads/Motorways: :thumb
Straight line stability is superb, either naked or with panniers and top box and pillion.
Speedo accuracy is not a problem either, with GPS reading a true 97mph at indicated 100mph.

The only negative :mmmm feature with this set-up is that the bike wants to wheelie a :clap lot when accelerating in first gear…though I quite like this characteristic :D

I would recommend this conversion to anyone who does most of thier riding on tarmac. (though I still have my wire wheels and TKC’s to swap for off-roading)

So main benefits are:
Better safer and more assured road handing :thumb
Evan faster cornering :thumb
The look on Johnny Gixxers face when you ride round the outside of him on a twisty ‘B’ road
Vast choice of supersports/touring tyres :clap

Negatives:
Cost – around £800 excluding tyres :(
Lots of wheelies off the lights :D

OK, I've read this thread carefully and as a certain mop haired Kazakh might say "I like" and I think I have found my winter project. Problem is that I have just bought a new house, which in Turkey means paying for it in two years and with property prices in Istanbul comparable to those in the UK I will be rather strapped for cash.

So, what wheels would be best and where's the cheapest place to get them?
Ditto Tyres.
What else is involved cost wise, other than cosmetics?
If I need to change the exhaust what system would be best in terms of fit?
Are these really stupid questions?

David
