Hi guys

Considering a swap from my TC GSA to a new LC GS and wondered if anyone had done the same and how they found it?

My reasons, I love the GSA but its a bit too big for me honestly, and its not quite as flickable as the old TC GS I had before this.

Also I suppose I fancy a change.

Come on talk me into it or out out of it

Odd given the price TC GSA's are selling for on dealer sites. Great bike and all but not £12K plus for an out of warranty previous model with 20k miles. Vines have been good to me with trade-ins but other BWM dealers have been laughable. High residuals? ;)

You said rainbow are way out on a deal. Other people here have been quoted £7K plus for trade in. Hence comment about residuals, especially when you see what dealers are selling them for.

With you now, thats the disappointing thing about rainbow. Had three bikes off them in the last 5 years and each time they just push the limit each time to the point you think fuck it go somewhere else. That said just tried two other dealers (without seeing the bike) and rainbows trade in is far better.

I think it's down to margin. When I owned a Honda the local main dealer said they have to make £600 minimum profit on any trade-ins. BMW have a higher cost to maintain a dealership so, unless you're spending shed loads or you have a really good relationship they'll typically give £1500 below the selling price. It's also supply vs demand. When I wanted to trade in my LC GS no dealers would touch it as they were over-stocked due to the RT recall resulting in loads of spare GSes floating around. The GSA has also sold far more than expected compared to the GS - hence the free sat nav and 2.9% finance deal. Luckily Vines pulled out an excellent deal and were 20% better than the other 4 dealers I tried.

Well sorry guys perhaps asking for advice a bit late, did the deal this afternoon so find out for myself from next weekend. It was too good to miss Triple black sat in a crate ready to go on the road as a demo bike at the end of the month

3 Twin Cam GSA's at Blade Motorrad. Mileage between 8 & 18000 ... all under 9.5K. ;)

Gsa tc to gs lc

Allways run the gsa, last one a tc,
Initially looked past the gs lc,and found it suited my needs on a test ride ,of a littl less weight and not so top heavy ,
It's still a big bike , just easier to handle for me, as I do trailer it behind the motorhome,,
Enjoy the TB, the new gs has all I need , apart from black spoked wheels,

Yep - so that's up to a 5 year old bike with up to 20K miles on the clock that BMW no longer makes costing more than a new mid-range model. Equally there are plenty around the £11-12K mark across the UK according to BMW Approved Used. Some are 5-6 years old. BMW residuals only apply when they're selling them on.

I swapped from the tic gsa to to a gs lc. It's been great, much faster , smoother, sharper, and more fun, and more than capable on my touring trips abroad. Only thing I'm not overly keen on is varios, feck all carrying capacity.

Enjoy the new bike, I'm sure you will do.

I would disagree. I went from a TC GS to and LC GSA and its eminently flickable. Granted you have to give it some beans but you get it back in spades. Get the cash splashed and don't look back.

I had a TC GSA.....rode the LC GS and didn't like it at all (it had the lighter flywheel), and then rode the LC GSA and loved it......same as the TC GSA but better speed, suspension, vibration...:thumby:

I went from a TC GS to an LC GS to an LC GSA. The GSA doesn't seem any bigger once on the move, and handles as well as the LC GS. Granted, you have to put a bit more effort in, but it's not as different as you'd think.;)

Last year I was offered over £4000 below typical bmw dealer selling price for a 3 year old low mileage fsh immaculate r1200gsa tc with Maxton suspension and luggage (which I bought new from them )against a brand new £16,000 gsa lc te model. Main dealer selling point is always superb residuals on BMW motorcycles until they offer you a shite part ex deal

Thanks SiRich

That's what I am hoping for.

Going to go minimal this time, done the kitchen sink luggage this time it's Kriega or soft Tao pack all the way,

Cheers
