Anyone tried fitting the non servo ABS unit to the older servo unit bike?

My bike is an 05 and a couple of years ago I swapped the denso (I think) alternator for the Bosch alternator. Had to do a bit of wiring mod but it's worked fine.

So was wondering if this might have been done with the ABS systems. Anyone tried it?

Dont think it can be done .

The main connector plugs on the older & newer ABS unit are vastly different . (i had the same idea lol )

So would probably require a lot of work.

i havnt checked, but you may have to change your ZFE module too

If you use the following link, and play around with dates, you should be able to see how the plugs differ

Bearing in mind the costs of rebuilt servo ABS - a complete used wiring system and all boxes including ignition lock and key might still be viable

Forget it.

Swap all of the electrics except battery alternator and handlebar switches and you might get a working system.
But if you really need ABS, servoectomy MOT and flog the bike has to be cheaper.

Do a servosectomy, I did and I think the brakes are better (OK no ABS but I never had the cause to get it to cut in ever) more feel and plenty of stopping power.

I am still waiting for some warmer weather to take my 05 to Luton for a servoectomy. Was hoping our excellent local indie BMW guys could do it, but they are concerned that by not fooling the ECU, there could be future problems, so aren't willing to do it. If the op requires covering over the red flashing failure odds, then sounds like they have a point. Has anyone had issues after doing this op?
MOT tomorrow, hoping that rear servo pump failing won't fail it, otherwise the Luton trip will be in a van.... hope I haven't hijacked this thread, apologies if so.

Who is your local indie?

My 2006 has been snipped ;),

The ABS ECU logs the faults as pressure to low front & rear , and comms failure.

The lights on the dash flash, as they are responding to the message sent from the ABS module ..

I have an idea that may stop that, which wouldnt involve pieces of tape ;) but at £80 its a big punt to take if it dosent work.

That said if anyone is willing to try it i will gladly share the idea

If the abs has been disabled or doesn't work(removed)
Just split the instruments and fill the void above the led with silicone or plasticine or whatever.
Makes no odds, you don't need to tape over,it's an expensive repair shit happens.
It's only a real issue if you are a buyer and are not aware I suppose, shouldn't think many early 1200,s will have working abs 5 years from now, those that are still working won't demand a premium.

Anyone buying a servo ABS bike will be soon doing this mod or paying megabux for a new servo. So to those people, this mod has to be a buying point. ✔️

So presumably the warning triangle showing a fault would also be either covered in black gunge or permanently on, effectively of no use. Will be a shitter when warning lights become an MOT failure on bikes as well as cars.... off to MOT in a minute...

It's only the 'brake failure' light that would be disabled and that's not used on non-ABS bikes anyway. How's the MoT tester going to know whether your bike was originally fitted with ABS or was a non-ABS model from the factory? That information doesn't appear on the V5C.

The problem is both warning lamps are lit.

The warning triangle & the ABS or brake fault (model yr dependant)

I wouldn't mind if the warning triangle worked as it should, and the ABS was blocked off.

Unfortunatly until the Germans release there mod later this year there is nothing in place.

I have an idea that might work, but i don't have the required part to try it. and at £80 its an expensive gamble lol

Mart :)
