Anyone tried ordering a GS (not GSA) today?

Hi,

The way I understand it all bikes built from Sept onwards are designated the following model year (in the UK at least !).
I collected my new Alpine White GS last weekend, its got the revised dashboard, reflectors on the fork legs and a better gearbox (compared to my previous 2014 model).

After using the VIN checker I found it was built 1/9/16, so is therefore a 2017 model year (and the Dealer said as much)........or perhaps its a 2016 revA :rolllaugh

So you have a 2016 revision-A build model that is designated as model 2017 for the UK market and is EU4 compatible.

Well, there is good news and bad news then. The good news is that you have a 2017 bike. The bad news is that there is going to be a newer 2017 bike in a few weeks :)

The only issue I had with the 2014 model was the gear box and heated grips ( not possible to up grade ), my new 2017 model ( standard ) addressed those issues. Not bothered if tomorrow a new model comes out.

I hear you. This is the model that I wanted too, unfortunately, they had cleared all the stock and I could only order the mysterious unannounced 2017-2018.

BMW have been producing the next years model in September for at least 40 years, they close for holidays in August and make the changes needed for the next years model at that time, logical and enables the factory to build up stocks for the 2017 selling season.

Apparently BMW have stopped production, ready for an updated GS coming in 2017, so you won't get it until January 2017, according to someone on the AdvRider forum.

There are four new colours coming - Lupin Blue Metallic, Iced Chocolate Grey Metallic, Light White and all Black (at an extra 100 EUR). No more triple black option, along with an update to the bodywork, and several other other updates. It seems like an LCI update rather than a full blown new model, as the power/ weight is reported to be the same.

Announcement will be at the show in Milan.

The triple black is a big seller can't see them stopping that:rolleyes:

100 euro for black metallic or 1000 for a triple black BMW wouldn't loose money like that:blast

I had to wait for mine, standard bikes are build to order:blast

Just a shame they did not allow pictures once you leave the visitors centre.
They make it quite clear and picture taking or phone use & the tour stops.
Could of got a press scoop ;)

Did you at least see what the hell Lupin Blue is?

The r1200rs is available in Lupin blue & white, not sure how it will suit the Gs

So they are re-introducing Lupin Blue then?

not diverting the course of the thread, I heard something on the lines of this at the weekend from a local dealer about the GS, I went to order the Black R 9T. Apparently these are also being stopped now , The sport, scrambler , racer and Pure versions are the only ones available. They found 1 new black one left in the uk so I'm having it 1

Well I can just imagine the disappointment of this person when he learns that he could have waited 3 more months for an entirely new model :)

It's not an entirely new model. It's the same model with some different colours and plastics. Hardly ground breaking.

I had heard the new 2017 GS is going to be 12 speed transmission and 1800 cc engine - it is also rumoured to run on Water from a STD tap and the emissions will be the same fragrance of Kylie's farts.

......
.....
.....
Does it really matter it's evolution of the model - but I will predict 2 things:

1. There will be a some things that have changed on the new bike
2. There will be some things that haven't changed on the new bike

I think I need a beer now......
