If folks want to suggest some dates let’s see if we can firm something up. I’m now a man of infinite leisure time so I can be flexible to fit in with others. Rendezvous at Sid’s basecamp on the way down sounds a good idea too
Wot he said^^^. Interested...At the mo I’m watching from a safe distance…really interested but…I can’t commit to this until there re some firm dates.
^^^ Wot he said, tentatively, as I'd need to do the following:-“It would be great to put together a team for 2025”
I would be up for that….
Sid, I’m doing the Mega mondo again in 2025 on my airhead GS (9-14 June). Will yours be ready by then?I'm a mega fan of Austin Vince. His events are brilliant and he knows every inch of the Pyrenees.
He does various sorts of events:
Mini Mondo is five days of trail riding in two of three small groups of five riders with wild camping each night. Only for the hardcore types.
Motel Mondo is as above but staying in hotels each night.
Mega Mondo is as above but designed to be rideable by big adventure bikes such as GSers.
I have done all of the above many times and the Mega Mondo is perfect for Airheads as we have had some do it in the last few years. Hopefully Austin will run one in May next year.
The VI.N.C.E. events are totally different. Up the 90 people in teams of 2,3 or 4. Three days riding and map reading to locate checkpoints. I have done these for last five years. Austin has now introduced "Apprentice" level in May and "Expert" in September.
It would be great to put together a team for 2025.
See Austin's website for more details or follow him on Facebook. He should also be on the Honda stand at the NEC Bike Show.
Yep I’m a master tooooo 8th 12 Sept. Pretty sure I can do those dates.Hmmm,
Master Vince sounds like fun![]()
Blimey Sid, get well soon mateMaster VINCE is only for those who have done one before. I will definitely be doing the 2025 event and happy to team up with other Airheaders.
The Apprentice VINCE is for newbies and includes a couple of days of tuition in map reading and trail riding. I think Austin would allow me to attend with a group of newbies to help out.
Not sure about Mega Mondo as I'm still recovering from this years events. In June I fell off a bridge and suffered cuts, bruising and internal injuries. After 3 months rest and recovery, I entered the VINCE. On the last day I fell off and busted a rib. This put me back to square one. Hopefully, with lots of rest over the winter, I'll be fighting fit next Spring.
Is there any official info on it?Provisional dates for the 2025 Vince events are
Apprentice Vince 26-31 May.
Master Vince 8-12 September.
Come on then chaps, which one are ‘Team Airhead’ going to sign up for?
PM sentIs there any official info on it?
Only webpage I can find is for this year
Ta muchlyPM sent
Ye gods. Last time I went it was about £500 for two in a vanCrikey,
Portsmouth /santander ferry,return trip,depart 5th sept,return 14th sept
1xperson/1bike +cabin £706
2xperson/2 bike +cabin£1140
4xperson/ 4 bike+ cabin£2008( 4 blokes in a stuffy cabin for 3 nights hmmmm)
So budget on £1300 min plus travel insurance /fuel/ any additional hotel costs.
Based on these sailings another 3 nights accommodation required in Spain.
2 day crossing out bound,
1 day crossing homeward.
As discussed I'm less 'master' and more 'minion'. Maybe in the future...I’ve done a couple of Vince’s before so I think that qualifies me for a master,
So provisionally Team Airhead could comprise
Tetley
Crapaud
Mikeyboy
Mad Hatter
Any others?
