Sidi Streetburners... i want some for casual riding. Im not too worried about dropping the bike on my leg. As mentioned... the 250 kg would be ample enough to basically disregard most forms of protection and since id be in jeans... the bottom of the leg would be just one less thing on a huge list of injuries... bugger it... ill be comfortable and look cool instead. Im sure the nurses would find them far more attractive than some fugly offroad wellies.

Aside from that.. theres just no feel in a full motocross boot. Making you much more likely to crash!

two or three really big scares that I picked up after a couple of days riding with QUOTE]

2 or 3 scares in a few days (did you mean scars or scares..don't know what's more worring) Jaysus..and you're worried about my low cut boots???

The Daytona Trans Open GTX seem to offer the same ankle protection as a pair of bedroom slippers though.

So I now have my solution.. Thanks to all who've suggested the Tech2 and Hein Gericke.. Seems the way to go.
I'll stick a pair of shin guards in my socks to appease the doom mongers

whoops sorry scars in the leather shin protection of the boots, agreed the Trans Open doesnt give you much more protection than many other road boots - they are MX style not MX boots hence buying a pair of Sidis for proper off-road stuff - I should also point out that I've bought a XR250 and a WR450 for exactly the same reason.

good luck with your choice, the main thing is you are happy with what you ride in - as a doom monger I wouldnt ride in anything that didnt feel right or approriate for the conditions as I see them.
