I'm looking at top-boxes for 1200GSA... standard BM one is very solid but too narrow for a laptop... and I don't like the Vario.

I've used Hepco-Becker 'Standard' panniers - well made and good fittings, but the top-box is a bit big & clunky without the panniers.

The 'exclusiv' seems like a better bet for every-day commuting etc. Any experience? How to fit to 1200GSA rack? Any pics of them on GS/GSA? Does the big one look too big??

Thanks. :thumb

Oh, and any other suggestions for GSA alternatives? Givi??

I'm sure they are good, but don't you think they look a bit like Vanity Cases? :nenau

To fit any H&B top box to the 1200 GSA rack you will need one of Hepcos adapter plates (part no 69650LIS) which retails for £135 plus the dreaded vat.

HAve you looked at the H&B Gobi box as an option? Should hold a lap top and considerably cheaper than the exclusive at £130 plus vat.

Not alloy of course but with a twin wall construction might absorb knocks a bit more? :nenau

Yikes! :yikes - that bumps up the cost a bit.

Hmmm... looked at Gobi when I was considering panniers for the last bike, but wasn't convinced. Might be worth another look though. :thumb

Aren't there still a pair of Gobi's sat in the desert in Morocco somewhere, waiting for someone to pick them up? (I daren't mention Snoopy, otherwise this thread is gonna get hijacked!)

Well It's the same mounting plate for all the boxes, but at £232.06 including vat for the exclusive compared to £152.75 for the Gobi it would make a dent in the bill for the rack.

Got one on my 1150 use it all the time very handy for small items you buy when your out on your own and money in ya pockets:augie not a lover of top boxes but has become very handy and can be removed in minutes.

Hmmm... no offense, but I'm starting to think that Blackal has a point after all...

I've got a Gobi on my bike and while the box itself is great, the mounting catch/assy is poo. After a winter on the bike I had to hammer a screwdriver into the lock to get it off, wrecking it. And yes I did grease it before winter started:D After 12 months the box moves around on the mountind plate quite a bit too. I wouldn't buy another, in fact I'll be replacing it with either a genuine ally BM side pannier as a top box (1150GSA) or a Caja Sahel.

For 2008 GSA... You will need the Hepco & Becker rear rack to mount this box. Part number 69642RS @ 71.50gbp + VAT

... so not quite as bad as the £135. I'm tempted to go for the Gobi.

I finally found a photo of the rack...
