It seems that I can buy a complete kit of all valve bits from Motobins for less than the cost of two exhuast valves alone from our US BMW dealers (and discounters)...

The question I have it are the Intervalve and ELCO superior to the stock BMW bits?

Anyone have experience with these?

cheers!

I've got the in my g/s and 100/7. No problems at all to report so far. I did both sets last year when Motobins had a special offer on complete valve and guide sets.

It's under 100 english wantever's (can't find the pounds sign, only $) for the non-BMW parts... did you go with the high-temp guides or standard?

:D

How I wish I could get parts that clean :tears :tears

Those pushrod tubes Rob . . .

Is that Hammerite, extra thick galvanise, or are they suffering corrosion (I can't believe they are) ???

A couple of mine had nearly rusted through so I fitted stainless ones.

It's hammerite Bob. The tubes are corroding (I'm so ashamed) The bikes done 114,000miles and the bores have worn beyond the limit so not worth replacing the tubes. I was going for a Siebenrock conversion and full rebuild this year but the recent influx of yet more Airheads needing attention put paid to that :(

Hmmmm . . Is it possible to re-plate and re-grind the bores ???

Seems a dreadful waste just to treat them as sacrificial items.

I may have some useable pushrod tubes knocking about (or I may have decided to bin the lot) - do you want me to have a search ? ? ?

I wouldn't have thought so. New BMW barrels are around £180 each + £90 each for new pistons. The Siebenrock kits around £550 I think.

Thanks for the offer though Bob :thumb2
