Anyone using Roadtrip on a Mac?

I've just installed it and moved across the stuff from the PC

Seems to be working but everytime I transfer a waypoint ( or anything else) to the GPS I get a message


Transfer successful
Would you like to send maps corresponding to this user data using MapInstall?


Is it that the programme only sends maps to the GPS needed for the Route/waypoint sent?

Do I need to click 'yes' everytime I send a waypoint/route to the gps?



With the old mapsource you downloaded the entire europe map then added routes.

I'm now not sure what maps are on the GPS?

i was using Road Trip last week and got the same message.

i had CN 08 on the mac and CN 09 on the gps i clicked No to send maps and it all worked out fine.

CN08 on the Mac Having installed half of Europe earlier using the Pc I'm aware on PC Mapsource that if you install maps it wipes all the old maps and starts again.

Thats why its puzzled me....On startup the unit displays what I think is details of the mapset I sent to it....so why ask if I want the associated maps sending if they're already there?

Just want to ensure that when I disappear East in July all the maps are as they should be. on the PC mapsource you select blocks of maps and send to the unit... RoadTrip doesn't seem to do that

I think this is just the reworked way from the windows version to calculate the set of maps needed for a trip based on the routes added.

If you've previously transferred all the maps you'll need then it's safe to just give a no at this point.

In practice the windows way is better, defaulting to no, with an option to calculate and transfer the map set for a route.

You can set the 'Maps Transfer' default in the Preferences menu. The same menu is handy when uploading stuff from the unit. If you're not careful, you'll end up with multiple copies of every waypoint & route. And, as you'll find, it's a pain to delete them in RoadTrip.

Just been on to Garmin support... I now realise the map transfer is done with Map install and not roadtrip

Where mapsource did everything the Mac stuff is split up

So now nearly completed transferring most of europe on to the 2650

Another Road Trip question....

Once you have a route planned... how do you save it so that it can be passed on to someone else?

And bear in mind that one of the contributors on the thread appears to work for Garmin on the Mac Software Development side - which means positive comments on enhancements are likely to get reviewed and considered for later versions of RoadTrip.
