P.s massive thank you to the lads on the bikes for stopping and to the lovely couple who got me back to Ullapool and especially Brenda Brennan for reaching out to her extensive friends in the biking community."

This is from a guy I know, currently touring Scotland.

This is where the bike is . . . . . https://maps.app.goo.gl/nokUw6SoQqt4LYHB9?g_st=afm

Sorry, is this bike you’re talking about or Halpins bike, it’s not clear, at least it’s not to me? 👍

Think this sounds too much of an adventure for the adventurers on here?! lol
Me included 😬
Drive shaft on a GS is the same as the leg on a horse. Maybe can salvage some organs and the petrol though 🤔
Hopefully anyone who goes to investigate can post pics though?!
I’d take a ride up, but up to my neck right now!

Just near the Bridge and the Xmen memorial.
Worse spots in the world to sit and wait and contemplate what to buy next !
😉

I don't know why he didn't just get a recovery / Bike collection service and get it to a ferry

Unless he wrecked it but he says he did not come off??

Even a recovery and a driveshaft should be less than a Grand !! OR is it just for facebook likes???

Cynical ?? Me ??? Yup you have it correct there !

Has the key been left in it? Not that far from me and I might have a potential donor bike available for spares🤔

If the op has left a pound of butter in the fridge your all fucked ;)

if not 2 neds on a ped.com will recover it for free

I’ve met Luke a few times. Very straightforward. If he says it’s there it’s there. JJH

2004 1200GS with a knackered bevel/driveshaft is about worthless
Now, it was a 1150 GS you could repair the bike more easily

I’m not too up on the inns and outs of drive shafts on 1200s but if it was mine and I had a way of getting it home that’s what I’d be doing. The original 1200 was a lovely bike especially the ones without abs. Anyway horses for courses. JJH

You are showing your ElebenFiddy head there @JohnnyBoxer

Its repairable Should be well easy recovered or fixed for Sub a Grand

Find another Which looks clean enough with Luggage for that ??

Goodness, when I logged off last night there was no replies here. I have known the owner of the 1200 for a long time. He was a customer of mine. The quotes in my first post were taken from his facebook page where he was recounting the disaster. If someone here is interested in the bike (assuming it's still there) I can put you in contact with Gavin (the owner).

I believe this will be one of those If only it was closer JObbies

On an Irish Plate too to complicate matters @luke scott

Yes I can see the reg plate causing some problems. So I assume it's going to be a parts bike for someone. Gavin says it's not worth transporting back to Dublin.

Did the bike get sorted out?

I stay not far from this and could get this uplifted. Could be a good winter project.

Give us a call or message me on 07739591301

Cheers
