Guys, I`m a 1200 fan and am often seen in the appropriate forum - anyhoo those who know me know that I make stuff very dear to my heart for my clients including BMW Park Lane (blatant name drop there) and fellow Tossers all around the world (honest).

I kinda have a decent rep but outside of the GS circles I am kind of not known but I am trying!

Recently a client asked me to make a DRZ chain guard - quite funny as I didn`t even know what a DRZ is :bounce1

Anyway, I made the said item - well I made 2 actually (just in case the first one didn`t come out good enough) and I still have it despite advertising it for sale.

My problem? - No-one knows of me outside the GS circles so if anyone wants a very rare, hand finished nice bit of kit for £30 plus P&p then its theirs!

It`s made from quality stainless steel, is based on the OEM dimensions, has IMHO much more appeal that the OEM one and will last a lot longer. It`s also hand finsihed by me to give it a very `craftsman` finish to it. And it comes with replacement fasteners - all stainless of course.

The only condition is that you report back, to us all for fairness, on your findings of the service, quality and value for money for a part Made in England by a fellow biker who is particulary proud of his work!

Here it is, I hope someone takes up the offer!

If you haven`t heard of me please search in the GS bit as there is lots said!

Regards,
Mark

To all that don't know Mark, or of his work, I can only give him the highest recommendation. :thumb2

His products are of excellent quality, and made from top grade stainless steel, and his designs are honed from recommendations from his customers, and fellow bikers. In my opinion they far exceed both Touratech and Wunderlich products, and are practically bespoke in their construction, and are British engineering at it's best. :thumb2

I'm sure you'd not be disappointed with any orders that you place, and he's rightly got an excellent reputation both for his products, and his service, amongst the Gs members. :thumb2

Couple this with the fact that Mark is one of those genuine blokes that are few and far between nowadays, who produces his products for the love of it, and with a passion, and makes customer satisfaction a priority. :thumb2

I've got a few of Mark's products on my GSA...and I'm fussy on what I do. I'm not one for bling, but prefer quality, practical products...and Mark's gear is excellent on both counts. He put a lot of effort making sure I got exactly what I was after, and must have spent more in man hours than it was financially viable to do.....but Mark's the kind of guy who puts a greater value on customer satisfaction. :thumb2 Yes people like that do still exsist! :thumb2

I've got no connection with Mark, or his business, in fact we've never met, but I just wanted to take the chance to recommend a great bloke, with some top quality products, and a brilliant attitude to them. :thumb2

Buy with confidence guys. :thumb2

Mark,

I am tempted but I just can't do with the circular holes. Can you do one without?

My DRZ is a very nice black SM, would look good in pictures with the SS chainguard, its got a few extras already and its really only missing the chainguard which a) Suzuki don't do now and the ones that you do find hanging around go for the same price as a 125 DRZ carbon one (£125). I think they are just getting confused. So its the last thing on my list for the DRZ.

I would be prepared to put your chain guard on my DRZ and post a few pictures. But with the holes in it doesn't float my boat. As the saying goes.

PS. I have a GS engine guard from you.

I`d do you one without holes if you wanted it matey :thumb

it looks nice..

But it looks too high and too far away from the swingarm, and goes too far back,i think it could be made closer and tidier, thats my 2 bobs worth.
The drz logo is brill btw.
I agree, it doesnt need holes

I agree with the being too far away from the chain.

Can you do an exact copy of the plastic part with the DRZ cut in. Then I would be interested.

Needs to be quick though.

Everyday I go out on the DRZ (And thats everyday) I think I am going to blow it up. They certainly weren't built for top end speed. But round town you just can't beat it. IMHO anyway.

What price are you looking at for it?

Guys, its as near as dammit the same as the OEM one - for some reason all the Suzuki chainguards seem to be the same on the V Strom, DRZ and something called the Van Van - they are all very similar and all seemingly very high off the chain. I can only presume this is for a reason and to be honest I am loathe to change it - one client on a 650cc v strom was prototyping a new design for me and it gouged into his tyre - naturally I replaced the tyre but he might have had an `off` and it frightened the life outa me so all I would be happy to do is make cosmetic changes like removing the holes.

I suppose the extra room would leave space for a larger rear sprocket since that one is a Supermoto, just a thought:nenau

Any chance of you making some of these?

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206321

There seems to be quite a lot of folk interested in them but the guy who made them doesn't respond to any requests.

Seems like a good idea - yes I could make it though I think the price he is suggesting could be a little on the low side (not that I am a crook!) - wouldn`t know until i actually made one and saw how long it took me etc.

I`ve got a couple of bespoke jobs to do for other Tossers but once I`ve done them I`ll certainly take a look at it and get back to you. Once the design is sorted i don`t tend to take very long to do something.

I would be interested in one of those for a Honda XR650R if it where a little shorter and closer to the chain.I would photo it on my bike and place it on a Honda site.:thumb

A tiny problem!

mate i don`t have a XR650R to make one around - unless you send me your old or orignal guard and I`ll design something round that - thats why the van van guard seems so high as it was modelled around the dimensions of the OEM one. :thumb

Any uodate on the original DRZ chain guard.

One without the holes and a little closer to the chain would tick all my boxes.
