Daughter just come home from Uni for Easter to study which seems to involve sleeping until mid-day and watching all the episodes of Neighbours since Christmas.

Anyway she has an assignment which requires a website. The tutor suggested Drupal. I have bought a domain name and some space on a hosted Linux server. Got login and password for cPanel and Drupal and software installed. I am now stuck.

I have watched some videos but am struggling to work out when I save something in Drupal how I use cPanel to put the content in a directory so it appears on the website.

Can someone help me out over the phone with some basic questions so I can make some progress ? I think I am nearly there just need some help.

John

I thought it was shit and couldn't get it to do anything after paying for the course... try html 5

www.wix.com

I thought it would be easier ....

I am not an expert, but know my way around a PC but I am struggling.

Drupal is a CMS system (not a very good one either Joomla is better) anyway you do everything in Drupal itself and not in any other Cpannel or FTP. Its all done through the Drupal webpages

Apart from that shouldn't it be your daughter doing this?

If your just after putting some web pages together then sites.google.com is as simple as it gets and free

From the Cpanel, there ought to be an installatron option.....usually quite far down on the list.

Usually, there will be options to install WP, Drupal, Joomla and maybe half a dozen alternatives.

It ought to be a one click deal......IF it's there.

If not, you'll need an FTP client and the FTP logins for the server, then d/load the Drupal install zip files and upload to the server....extract and install :thumb2

There will be dozens of pages of how to do it in detail on the drupal help pages.

FWIW, I can't get on with Drupal either......I use WP :thumb2

EDIT....whoops, Gert didn't log out......Fanny here :blast

the tutor suggested drupal....

HTML 5 is a piece of piss... it allows creativity that's what the web is about... drupal is loads of crap code design by people that look like the cartoon guy out of the simpsons attached is an example of the average dropal user...

now ask yourself is that your daughter?

if yes keep on struggling.... if no think HTML 5.....:thumb2

"those that can do, those that can't teach...!"

Tell her to drop the computer science course and switch to management. She is an absolute natural and already has the delegation module completely sorted. Impressive young lady!

I hope you are learning lots and getting value from the fees.

Anybody else got thoughts on other possible courses of action here :D

Very good, we both laughed at that. She has now roped in one of friends to help and it looks pretty straight forward to use.

Thanks Kloek. We have it installed and working now. Someone who looks similar to Lo-IQ's cartoon helped get her started and it seems to work OK.

I have no idea how it compares to other products. The reason it has to be Drupal is because there are 5 others in her group who are working on one site and they all have to use the same products.
