Apologies for being a bit dim, but it's another 2610 mapping question ~

I've got a 2610, which has City Navigator v6 (Nov. 03) mapping on the CF card.

I've got no discs, unlock codes or anything else with it.

I have various CD's associated with other 2610's, and some codes to go with them.

What (if anything) can I do to update the mapping to v9 or 2009 City Navigator..?

Legally you can't Unlock codes from others won't work as they relate to the mapping and the individual GPS.

City Nav v9 and City Nav 2009 are two different versions, 2009 is the later and last Garmin mapping that would work on the 2610.

Might be worth trying OpenStreetMap, no faffing around with unlock codes

Just used http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl to update my 2610 on Monday last before setting off on a two week trip on Saturday.

Select what areas you need on the map, generate it (it emails you when its ready), download the gmapsup.zip and the mapsource or basecamp map package and you're good to go.

I've done that too- works well and it's free
A few weeks ago I helped a guest load openstreetmaps onto his 550. he had carefully loaded all the waypoints he needed but somehow forgot to load any maps! Worked on the 550 just the same
