Bought new in 2013 works perfectly and only selling as I have been given a new laptop.

Complete with original box, wireless keyboard and mouse.

Really lovely high quality, if you're used to Apple then you already know - they just work seamlessly with all of the Apple in-house software.

I'm based in Bexhill, East Sussex and would rather arrange to hand over in person but can post if required.

£250

I am completely new to Apple computers but fancy having a dabble.

What does it mean if the OS is no longer supported please?

As it is a 2013 model, does that mean that that there are certain functions, or applications that are obsolete?

Many thanks.

Nothing obsolete and they still do security updates it’s just that Apple don’t allow you to upload the latest version of their operating system, so some new features will not be available. Having said that, all of the main functions that you would need or expect are still there. OS updates typically change fonts and have small feature updates but are rarely game changing. Apple are very much about gradual improvements.

In reality, it is perfectly capable to use as a modern functional PC. It works perfectly with iCloud, runs my 30,000 family photos and videos , runs the Apple version of word and excel,(called pages and numbers), runs multiple email accounts, surfs the internet. I was listening to Spotify on it 3 days ago and on a zoom call last week. As I mentioned above, only selling as I’ve been given a laptop, I was perfectly happy to keep using this for years to come.

Many thanks for the explanation of the OS and features (y) :giggle:

An old Mac won't run the latest OS and as a result can't use the latest app versions. Not usually an issue until you find your old browser is rejected by some websites for security reasons.

I have a similar one you can install Linux, Mint Cinnamon is my preferred distribution.

What I said yesterday, then my comment got removed 🙄.

Why OP can’t be more transparent about selling a 12 year old (100 year old by tech standards) tech. Yes it will do your general stuff online and email, but it will not be as safe as a 2-3 year old iMac.

@BikerMan Andy is new to the whole Mac (Apple) system, so I personally wouldn’t want him to be/feel vulnerable for his own online security if Apple haven’t provided any security updated for at least past two years.

Sorry OP, but transparency is much too important on these pages. It’ll be fine to someone who is a computer geek and willing to run Linux OS.

TBF my missus is using my old 2010 Macbook Pro which is definitely affected by not being able to use the latest browsers. I think it's got some special version of Firefox on it which works pretty well.

The OP's machine wouldn't be a bad taster for Macs and the price is not outrageous, but I'd think twice about using it for anything that needs to be secure.

I don’t see what I’m not being transparent about, I’ve said what it is and what I use it for. If you’re implying I’m being dishonest I respectfully disagree. I answered a question as honestly as I could, I’m not a computer technical expert unlike some on here.
The newer iMacs are obviously more capable and also a lot more expensive.
