Right I have a problem Tracy's iphone fell down the loo
got a new one from apple, but her macbook is a 2006 running tiger, I have purchased snow leopard but apple say that you need to install leopard first and you can't just jump to snow leopard.
my question is does anyone have a copy of leopard with a license or has anyone installed snowleopard straught from tiger ???
I am purchasing 2GB of new ram from mac upgrades anyone used these ??
help pls :comfort

you can use any snow leopard disc to do a clean install on your mac.

what you can't do (apparently, i've not tried it), is an upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard. Lion comes out next month & you need to be on SL to upgrade. there are supposedly not going to be any discs, and it will only be available via the app store.

Well the guy on apple support told me that it's up to me, but if you install snow leopard without leopard first they will be unable to support me.
But he didn't say it wouldn't work just that they wouldn't support me
In a kind of way that it would work but he mustn't say it would, can't try till I get the ram installed as snowleopard needs at least 1GB :type

it's perfectly doable, but against their EULA.

...as of course using a borrowed leopard disc would be :augie

...anyway, how do you get apple support for a 2006 macbook? 90 days from new unless you buy apple care which extends it to 3 years

Im presuming the support is with the snow leopard software not my MacBook
New ram should be in by weekend she what happens then
Hopefully give it a new lease of life :nenau

Hi, I put snow leopard on my son's intel macbook (tiger) with no problems without the need for Leopard.

There are plenty of forums answering this.

I put the dvd in clicked on the upgrade and on restarting it installed and all previous settings and passwords were retained.

I did not need to up the memory.

Regards
Gerry
