Apple TV 2 apps/software

I bought an Apple TV 2 last weekend for £101 as I have been trying to stream downloaded video to both Xbox360 and PS3 with limited success. I have a 1TB Synology NAS connected to my wireless router which contains plenty of video (such as Divx, AVI, MP4 etc), music, photos etc.

I have jailbroken the OS on the Apple TV 2 to allow it to run 3rd party apps and extend its functionality, then installed ATVFlash(Black) followed by XBMC and a few other apps. It can now stream everything I have on my NAS to my upstairs TV in the bedroom without dropouts or lag, no format problems etc, watch youtube on it etc, its totally brilliant.


Has anyone else done this, and if so, what software have you installed to your AppleTV 2 and what would you recommend ?

I have an Apple TV but I don't understand half of what you just said. NOt sure if I have a 1 or a 2 , the better half got it for me for my birthday 6 months ago. I use it to stream my iMAC content ; iPhoto to the TV in the lounge and ITunes to my AV Amp which means i can listen to my music in the lounge , kitchen or dining room and any combination of the 3

I've installed Plex on my jalibroken ATV2 - www.plexapp.com

Works quite well. Similar to XBMC

Thanks for the link, just downloading Plex to my MacBook Pro now, looks good for streaming.
