Me and a fellow Yorkshire tosser are heading up the road to Scotland
on the 15th of April for a few nights and thought we would head to Applecross.

Do any of you lovely people have any recomendations for b&b type accomodation with bike friendly owners and parking. I know thw campsite and the huts are great but we fancy going a bit less basic as its only 2 or 3 nights.

Just got back last week after doing the bealach ne ba or applecross pass!! Fantastic views and a lovely ride - make sure u pick a fine day , the clouds pass fairly low up there!

the applecross campsite do wee wigwams which are meant to be good (I've never tried them always camped at Applecross), and just up the road from the Applecross Inn

The Applecross Inn can get booked up light years in advance - but you may be lucky. The food is excellent and they do decent beer, too.

There's a bit of a shortage of B&B's over there, the old wifey that we stayed with down at Camusteel doesn't do it any more and I'm not sure who else does. LochCarron has a better selection of B&B's.

However, the Wigwams are excellent. They've all got heaters in them and are nice and cosy. Parking not an issue anywhere.

Im having a ten day tour in that area over Easter, its too cold for camping on a tour this time of year so we are staying in SYHA accommodation. Its friendly, warm and convenient, with hostels in some great locations.
For our Applecross leg of the tour we are starting at Ratagan Hostel http://www.syha.org.uk/hostels/highlands/ratagan.aspx
and working our way up the coast to Torridon http://www.syha.org.uk/hostels/highlands/torridon.aspx
There are plenty of other destinations. It cost £16.50 per night, more if you book separate rooms where available. Unless you are a member (£10 PA) you also pay £2.00 extra.
Unlike b&b they do not mind you turning up wet, there is always a drying room, the self cooking facilities are good or you can purchase meals in the Hostel. Unlike the YHA you can also consume your own drinks in the hostel.
They have beds available for your tour dates.

You could always buy the Lochalsh Hotel.

Stayed at The Inn last w/e--great grub and bar as ever, may have had the odd sherry during the evening,--about the best place to stay south of Ullapool. Best to go out of season--gets packed otherwise. Full of greasy bikers at weekends.

as the lads say.............

been a number of times for runs and camping (pre wigwams - mair like henhooses on stilts), great food at in the Inn, take a torch tae see ye hame tho', and a nice run north ish up the coast.
OOh, back around 2002-ish three of us were line astern heading up that coastal route with a herd of deer wie a big stag in the lead keeping pace with us (aye Johnny, we werna' goin' that fast, a' ken) and ower there heeds in the water between us and Rona wis a new clear sub run aground on a wee rock island.
There was a very nice K1 written off at Applecross at the right bend at the bottom of the brae not me tho' phew!

I'm thinking that the Applecross Campsite owner still does B+B. Theres also Seonag Brown at Camustiel 01520 744 421. The Applecross Inn usually helps with advising who is doing B+B if they don't have any vacancies. Like Klanky says, the Inn gets booked up way in advance. If all else fails the camping huts are a good option having heating, electricity and comfy sleeping mats.
