Aprilia Tuareg 660

I can heartily recommend Sally or Paul at A&D in Denbigh, and some great roads to ride to get there.
I rang them earlier, bit late to talk to anyone but they are going to call me Monday Morning.
Colchester Kawasaki have sold out, not surprisingly at that price.

yes I was in there today and for the first time since they launched 18 months or so ago they didn't have at least one on the shop floor.

The word must be getting around, because Monday they had 1 of each colour until I blagged the Atriedes black.

Picked up a 23 plate red one with 2800 miles yesterday. Seemed a more sensible option for me, I change bikes so regularly a new one would end up costing me a fortune, this way someone else takes the big initial hit.
Sod’s Law will say I’m going to love this and keep it, and should’ve bought a new one!

I had a brief test ride today - only 40 minutes, as Mototechnics were having an open day and there were others booking in after me.

The engine is amazing - really zips along - but it does sound a little underwhelming at idle and low revs. Lovely induction roar when you open it up. Standing position is great, suspension seems really capable, nice screen that doesn't buffet. Cruise control is a bit of a game changer. Lovely and light both stationary and underway compared to my F800GSA.

I'm still not there on the looks TBH - front end seems a little blunt after years of beaked bikes.

Looks great in that colour.

Getting a few miles in on mine now, gotta say I’m loving it so far. Just bought an SW Motech rack, and put a new rear tire on, ( found a nail in the old one) ready for a few days away next week.IMG_5429.jpeg

Just looking over the bike today and removed the plastic cover over the battery. Was surprised to see a ‘state of charge button’ press the button and all the little LEDS light up. Maybe this is normal with a lithium battery, never had a bike with one before. IMG_5456.jpeg

yes that's pretty normal for a lithium battery at least all the ones ive had have had them . they hold their charge very well too, my bike has gone 2 possibly 3 months in the winter just sat outside under a tarp and it has always started without hesitation . ive heard somewhere they will still retain 80% of charge over 12 months . no idea if true though

Just back from a week down to the Auvergne on the Tuareg and really my first decent ride after having it 18 months. We were intending to do some of the TET but the sections we tried on routes 2,8 and 24 were wet and quite tricky so mostly stayed on the fabulous D roads in fact stayed on them for the first 5 days while the weather was great.
I have to say the bike is so much fun it can really rip along handles beautifully and can poodle along in top down to 25mph though villages . There really isn't another bike id rather own but I defiantly need to pick the right trails to ride , It can be a right handful as anything that size can be and got in a pickle a couple of times.

Watch out for the pivot bolt on the gear change - relatively minor off and it snapped leaving the threaded part of the bolt in the hanger 🤔

yes I have heard of that and I did think about doing one of the various upgrades but have left it as is for the time being cheers. have you done yours ?

Someone (,,,) reversed into me yesterday down near Lampeter in Wales and the bike is now being transported back up to Cumbria on an AA truck. Meanwhile i’m in a hotel with a hire car 😤

the most annoying thing about the bike was the poor design of the high beam switch. very often when changing gear I would flick the switch on with my index finger. the solution many people do is to simply shorten it slightly but someone had the bright idea of simply putting a shield in the way which require a firmer push . there is a 3d printed version that's out there but I just cut a piece of plastic lid and stuck it on. it works brilliant though looks like it should be on an MZ . ill do a picture :thumb
