ARAI TOUR X -3 = RUBBISH!!

I bought the tourX 3 at the Dublin show last week and had the exact same problem. I'm 6'1" and by dropping the screen of my GSA to it lowest level has almost cut out all of the noise.
I also have the touratech screen extension so, I must try that as well and see/hear what happens? Nice helmet all the same, great comfort and great peripheral vision!

I love threads like this, "it don't work for me-I'm not adjusting anything-it should work out of the box and it don't,therefore it's rubbish" :jes

Not much help I know, but mine just got delivered at £259.99. Will comment about vibration after the weekend.

Get some torbinators and declit the adjusters (cleap and cheerful)
This gets some airflow below the screen and makes it all nice and smooth.
Good results with or without the Touratech extender (although slightly queiter with it)

Silly me, expecting it to work out of the box.....:augie
should have read the booklet that says
stick this to that... cut this off that.... take peak off... weld this to that... etc
I cant lower the screen or my zumo will foul the clocks...

throwing toys out of pram ??? .............................mmmmmmmmmmmmm:blagblah

I must be wrong expecting to put a helmet on and ride without problems

I feckin luv mine...no buffet or wind noise, just beautiful dreams :D

IT has one of humvee's stickers on it. perhaps its that thats fecked it up?

Depends where in the airstream you've positioned it ;)

Seriously,I've had a Tour-X (used originally on my 1150ADV and later on my 1200ADV) I had to tweak the angle and adjustment of the screen to get the most comfortable position to reduce noise and buffeting,I didn't have to adjust the screen from the settings I used with the older lid at all when I switched to the Tour-x 3 but I think the Tour-X 3 is markedly more comfortable and much quieter than the earlier lid:nenau
But we're all different, what works for me might not work for you,if you like the lid and don't want to take a hit in the wallet by selling it on why not experiment a little more with the height and rake of your screen-it costs nothing but your time.

thats true. i may have a look at tobinators, not sure what they are but willing to have a go.:thumb2

The tobinators didn't work for me on the 1200 :nenau I bought them and sold them on............I ended up using the Wunderlich screen adjusters and they worked a treat-for me at least...............Good luck ;)

The RX7 doesn't have a bloody great wind scoop bolted on the front...
.....does seem a bit of a design flaw - there again, looks like an appropriate helmet to go with the bike, if you're into that sort of thing:augie

I used a Tour X for 3 years and last autumn went back to a new Hornet, having had one in 2003.

For me,the Hornet is infinitely better.

It feels lighter,is quieter and much more comfortable when used on a 2000 mile 7 day trip .

And it cost me a smidge over £200.

That was very cheap. I paid £240 for mine a year ago with a discount. However, there's just been a hike in Shoei prices. The new Hornets with multi-colour paint schemes are now retailing at £350.

shorten the peak

I cut the front edge off the peak.

About 10mm or 3/8" in old money. I just dragged a pencil along the front edge to mark the profile and sanded it down. Took longer to get the peak off and on again than sand it. Works a treat and looks standard.

A mate stuck wheel weights on his peak but on the underside (opposite to the pic previously in this thread) then covered it in gaffa tape. He reckons that solved the drumming as well.

Seems either will work:D

Hope this helps
