Arai Tour X.......Good, Bad or Indifferent??

The XL and XXL share the same shell and just have different thickness pads.

So the XL must have either 20 or 25 mm ?

Can anyone who has a Tour X in size XL tell me what size the cheek pads are please ?(Marked on inside of pad)

I tried on a mate's XL but it was just a bit too big.(The L is too tight)

But I see that Arai sell different thicknesses of cheek pad,so if the standard XL came with, say 20 mm pads, then I could get 25 or 30mm pads and that should do the job.

I've been using an XL with 25mm pads for the past couple of years. Had exactly the same problem as you - L too tight but XL too loose around cheek

Works great... Fits well and is comfortable

Only problem with the Tour-X is the visor - keeps slipping down. Cured it by sticking a (soft side) sliver of velcro in the hinge which adds a bit of friction and enables the visor to stay up

So the XL must come with 20mm pads then ?

I'm not sure whether to go for 25 or 30mm in that case.

I didnt get on with the Tour-X, although I loved the look and the feel (and still do :nenau ). I just found it too noisy on the GSA even with ear plugs in. This seemed to be due to peak, which "drummed" annoyingly as the air flow, catches the peak.

I looked at the BMW Enduro helmet, but the visor system appered quite flimsey compared with the Arai.

If I could afford 2 helmets, I would have the Tour-X for the looks, vision, and quality. In the end I went for the Schuberth S1, which is very nice but not as sexy.

I'm interested in the idea of using goggles with the visor in place, does this pose any problems?
Only that closing the visor over your goggles increases the chance of the goggles misting.

Increasingly I'm using mine without the visor with one of two pairs of goggles; a pair of Scott ones with silver mirror lenses or a pair of Alpina ones, with clear lenses, currently on offer for £12.00 + £4.00 p&p from Busters.
